My thoughts exactly! It kinda reminds me of my taxidermied Grouper head over my garage doors...

  5. I like it, I could really see it on a 1950s style sports custom or road racer.

Which part of that front end is the full-custom part?

I only see the mis-matched and oddly proportioned part.

Why would someone ruin a gorgeous '39 grille to build that?
At least you have the hood and maybe part of the original grille to fix one that's wrecked or something.

  11. I somehow feel a Morris -Minor kinda vibe outta it. Cool is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

I think it would make a cool little trailer to tow behind the 41. Maybe turn it around backwards and make up a little trailer frame for it. The Coke coolers and all the other stuff is overdone, but you would NEVER see one like this again !:D

  17. That's what I was thinking too: Forrdari F1.

I think it's salvigable, maybe lose the truck grille and hood and
Use it on a coupe or convertible...

I want to hate it. I'm really trying but for some reason something about it makes me smile.

It's cool. Get rid of the upper grille opening and it will be WAY cool.

If a 41 or something hood section was welded in place of that pickup grille area matching the hood line it would become a silk purse rather than the sow's ear it currently resembles.

    Chris,
I'm glad you picked that up! This is great entertainment seeing what all these guys think of it! I thought it was too ugly to run, but too "original" to toss it! As far as where it came from, I picked up about 3-4 years ago as a complete truck and used for parts for the 39 that Chris' little brother just picked up from me. I was built by a guy somwhere around Tacoma maybe in the 60's, Thats the only info I got from the guy I got it from. I'll see if I can round up a pic of it before I took it apart.

  23. Ummmm, interesting. Not on my truck, you don't.

  24. A pic would be awesome! Thanks again!

I wonder if it whistles at speed? There was a louvered Beetle in town you could hear whistling or humming and changing pitch as it drove by.

Here it is in all its glory! The cab was pretty much rusted out, the bed rails had been crushed by a tree and the original rear fenders were replaced with dodge pick up fenders of the same era. Oh and who knows where the running boards went? But I did get a good frame, dash, tranny and a good running 59 Ab.

Possibly it was the alternate nose for that white 36 three window that nobody wanted cuz it was so ugly??????

  29. See, I kinnda dig that. Ugly or not, someone went through a lot of trouble and the work is very decent!

  30. Looks better on the truck, than on the trailer.
