I recently did some trading and got this 1957 Chevy old drag car. Previous owner owned the car for 34 years. Back in 1985 he blew up the 402 big block he had in it, and bought a new over the counter LS7 big Block. He dropped it in it with a 400 turbo and never started it until this year. When he parked it he moved on to a pro stock car in the 80's. He still races today with a camaro. So the 57 was just left in storage for 26 years. It is amazing condition for sitting so many years. Damn near rust free car with perfect floors.
It still has part of the gm label on the valve cover. It will be a very fun car to bracket race with and pound the streets now. Hope you like the pictures.

awesome 57.. what are your plans? hope you leave the front bumper and the hood rockets off.. should be against the law to run a front bumper on a tri5...

neat! that motor is probably worth something today....I bought one in 1989 for $2700, they came with a flywheel, but no intake manifold. Be sure to put good gas in it before you try to run it, it should have a lot of compression if it's really the XCH engine. and make sure the valves are adjusted, they're solid lifters if it's the original cam

I know I'll catch the shit from the fan blades on this , but , I think it would look so much better with a front bumper....never understood the whole thing about that , you'd think as many that did that , there'd be thousands of front bumper around......

First thing I did was put new brakes on it. I plan on leaving it alone and just cleaning on it. It's up and running now and man it feel's damn good!!! For sure been running race fuel. Have to love the valve cover decal that read 100 plus octane. I'm sure I will have to put a cage in it adventually. I might change the wheels, put two low back bucket seats in it, and some interior. But as far as a bumper. It will have to join the no bumper club with my henry j and willys. Thanks everyone for the great feedback.

Nice car, nice line-up, I'd have trouble picking a favorite out of the three. Awesome.

wow, I'd like to hear that story.

The sticker that was on my valve covers was part number 3965775 (the LS-7 was 3965774), and it said "for off road use only" in lawyerspeak, I don't recall it saying anything about fuel requirements.

  24. cool 57 , its not against the law in ohio :D

  25. What a nice find, you're a lucky man to have such iron at his disposal ! I'd like to hear how it runs at the track too.

Hey Rob, Will you have this at the Pumpkin Run this weekend with the rest of your stable?

  27. Very cool! I like the Weld wheels, I like it all!

I just bought a '57 with a 454 in it... more of a street car though.

    Keep us posted!

No front bumper gives that nose up appearence. People are always asking me how I raised the front of my 55, I tell them I removed the front bumper!

I think it will look better when you put the front bumper on it.
