What do you think are "Top 10 Events" to attend

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by fordstandard, Sep 19, 2011.

  1. Most of us travel this great country and don't want to miss awesome shows or cruise nights --In your opinion ,what are the Top 10 not to be missed. --- The best/largest/most unique, in U.S

  2. Being a "kustom guy" from the Boston, I have never been but always wanted to go to paso (or santa maria now.) Maybe one of these years I'll make it out. Just breaks my heart to go to a show without my car. 6,000 miles round trip is a tough one though... But hey, General Gow did it.

  3. My favs are: Grand national roadster show
    Lonestar Roundup
    Goodguys Del Mar
    Goodguys Pleasanton
    Hot Rod Revolution

  4. Guys--
What about the; Charlotte N.C , Boynton Beach Florida , Scottsdale AZ areas ?
I'll be visiting friends-family there in near future

Thats one I've always wanted to go to.

  22. Bonneville will leave you breathless! Pebble Beach is a must. I still haven't done GNRS but maybe next year. I'm pretty parshal to Eagle Field but I do want to make it to the HAMB Drags. General Gow's Garage party is also at the top.

Biggest isn't always best. Sure there are more cars to look at but 10,000 cars in one fairgrounds means that there are probably 500 cars that you will really take the time to examine.

The LA Roadster show and the Grand National Roadster show top my someday list. The Sacramento show is another one that I want to make.
The Roundup is number one on the after retirement list for 2013. It will probably be the 48's first time out of the box and it will hopefully be finished completely.

Every section of the country most likely has one top notch event that a guy would like to make that may not be a big number event. The people and cars in attendance make the event, not the number of cars it draws, the door prizes or number of awards or other things on the list. The East vs West no overhead run last Saturday is an example of that. Held in a burger joint parking lot in the big middle of no where in the fall when the weather is iffy it is still one of the best events a guy can go to just because of the people and the cars that are there. Every vehicle there was interesting in one way or another and you didn't have to wade through acres of filler cars that were allowed in to get the numbers up. Damned few spectators except those who were really interested helped with the atmosphere too.
Personally I'd rather drive 1000 miles to a great 100 car event than 150 miles to an event that is good in some respects but lacking in others.

    My list....

Fall Wildwood Nj (This weekend)!!!!! The undisputed king of runs and the only show I won't miss.

    Beaver Springs Drags
    Jalopyrama
    Violators spring Bash
Aces and Eights (to the canal)
    Hardtop57's winter garage hang

And just added....WNTI show and bash in Knowlton NJ. We were there for the first time last week and it was killer. Still a small run but growing. Quality more than quantity and the best entertainment ever. Little Isidore and the Iquisitors and Ronnie Spector, Damn!!!!!
