Close. This is actually a Kaiser-Darrin. And the car above does resemble it and is wearing what appears to be 55 Ford Hubcaps. However, the door on the car you posted looks to be front-hinged, and the Darrin doors aren't hinged...they slide into the rear quarter.

BUT, do you know if the car you posted is METAL or FIBERGLASS ? If it's glass it could be a different, early, kit-car type unit, or, one of the low-run independents that were prolific during the 50's-60's. If it's metal, well, more research has gotta be done.

Some kind of fiberglass something or another with a Hudson steering wheel and a bad ass really cool SW 2 1/4" tach. Sort of resembles, less the grill area, a 50's Mercedes Benz roadster.

When fiberglass kit cars became all the rage there were companies all over cranking out stuff like this. The sales pitch was, plop it on an early Ford chassis and be the envy of all your neighbors. I'm betting this was one of those early experiments.

Aside from that God awful grille opening, it really doesn't look too bad IMO.

Its a candidate for a grill change asap! Park it next to an Edsel and I can imagine the comments offered.

  22. Look like 55-56 Ford wheel covers.
Probably a home built "custom" from the 50s.
Some of the magazines like Popular Mechanics offered plans
    for do it yourselfers.

Might be a neat car to restore - probably re-do the front end for
    better looks.
