This '49 Bass is building for Dudley Owen is one of my favorites! Bass just listed it for sale for the guy at 39K.

  2. I'm a Ford guy, but I've always liked the '49-' 52 Chevys. Of the 4 years, I like the '51 grille the best. Both the '49-'50 and the '51-'52 feature attractive dashes--to me nothing beats the clean simple styling of the '49-'50 Ford dash, but I like these two Chevy dashes a lot. As for body styles, the '51-'52 hardtop would be my first choice. I like the looks of the Fleetline (fastback) body style, but I don't like driving a Fleetline (I had occasion to drive a '50 many years ago) because it has a lot of blind spots--without outside mirrors, it's hard to see what's behind you or how to back up.

while neither one was ever finished in shiny paint or upholstery....

i really liked this one(first pic) as it was my first....(however this pic was photoshopped as this car was never that low)...

..but i also liked the second car.... as it was a more intense build.,..

yeah,im being self indulgent,,sorry,,but the only other 49-52 chevy of recent time i really like was McPhails,.,,but i didnt like his quarter windows....

  19. Guess I have to be partial to my own. Even though it's a road map of how not to do bodywork (came that way) and I'm going to have to replace all the body mounts, both fenders (for the second time in the car's life), because the fenders are '52's I had to get a different grille for the time being, etc. - not to mention all the patches of galvanized metal pop riveted in place - '50 Fleetline and I think I bought it at the time as much because I always wanted one from the first AMT model kit, as anything else.
