I got there at 8am and was # 130 the event starts at 9am according to the flyer. The A40 was from Victoria BC Canada and had history as a Drag car. The Pinkish 51 Chev was a record holder 6 cyl 3 carbs in its original condition today as when he raced it in the NW.

  3. Nice to see this strip still exists; unusual for one to be around as long as Arlington. Here are some pics from way back; '63 HRM.
(You can bet the cruise will be short-lived, however.)

This is a really cool show. I live in Arlington, but didn't get to see it...Of course I had to have duty at the Base that day. When I get the truck I'm building with my son finished, we are gonna put it in that show, its one of the things that motivates me to keep plugging away on it...Planned on doing it this year, but as usual it wasn't even close to done on time.

I do wish they would actually do some racing at the show. The first time I went I was really dissapointed, the posters and name led me to believe there would actually be some drags. The Arlington Airport would be a great place for some vintage drag racing....I'm guessing its a liability problem.

DAMN. Watched that video CRANKED up like 10 times. Now going back to check out the photos!!!

OK, checked the pics too. Good stuff. Really good stuff. Looked like a neat event.

Our town has a similar downtown burnout affair and I quit going years ago. It is just a matter of time before some Dumb#&% ends up launching into the crowd killing some poor little kid drug there by his snaggle tooth parents. I like watching someone abuse their car as much as anyone, but don't have any interest in being present (even as a spectator) when someone gets killed. Just a matter of time.

OK, off the soapbox. Thanks for taking the time to post up this cool video and the pics. GREAT!

For folks going to Cruisin the Coast, be aware-Biloxi P.D. cracks down HEAVILY on burnouts.

It is unbelievable that was happening-way too risky with people on both sides (or any side) of the street.

It looks a lot better now than when it was in my living room. Beautiful restoration!

The "Corvette Specialty" Dragster ran at the Arlington track from '64-'70. It also ran at the Shelton, Bremerton, and Pacific Raceway tracks.

  18. ...if you watched for an hour and a half, you are part of the problem.

  19. Even the store owners were watching. Just because you watch something does not make you any part of the problem.
Thats like watching a murder trial and becoming guilty of murder. I don't think so.
But while I left, I partook by doing a nice burn out. Thank you very much!! I'm a bad bad boy and will go to my room now.

Exactly! Hot rods are all about toeing the line and obeying the rules. Gotta make sure not to do anything that might rub society the wrong way, don't want any hooligan influence on this nice little "hobby".....I, for one, am extremely upset by this blatant display of disrespect and unnecessary hooliganism, and I can only hope that those responsible will amend their carefree and happy-go-lucky view of the world to one that is appropriately filled with conservative risk management and a healthy dose of caution. After all, almost everything fun will probably kill you and we must avoid offending anyone at all costs!

**Please not the sarcasm reflected above***

Now I'm off to moon some nuns and worry some soccer moms...

    is there a car there?????????????

  22. This was the first year for me going to this show. Apperently, the burn outs have been going on for 5 years. Same spot, same town, same cops. It amazes me that it is still happening, but who am I to say why the cops let it happen. They show up around 10:00 PM and everyone leaves.
I for one love flooring my car once in a while and frying the tires. I typically don't do it as a public display but usually where no cars are and theres a straight line. Nothing like feeling the power of over 500 ponies under your right foot letting loose once in a while.
This was and is Hotrodding. Building your engine more powerful than the factory and lightening up your car to make it as fast as you can make it within your budget. I also like just cruising Hotrods. My 1929 won't be my fastest car, being 276 cubic inches of 7-1 compression Hemi powered but having a couple fast cars are all I need. I need a few slower cars to balance it out a little.:D

Great pics of some amazing cars! Thanks for posting them.

  26. You are very welcome.
I take time to take pictures of most of the events in Seattle area just to post on here and go back and look at them in the winter. There is a huge Hotrod following here considering all the rain. The summers are the best when they finally come. I think thats why you see all the killer cars as we have lots of time to work on them when its rainy outside. The viewing of my pictures here exceeded Photo buckets bandwidth so I actually pay to have them host all my pictures.
It takes alot of time to post each picture on this site but its worth it. Thanks again!!

  30. I was actually surprised at all the gassers. Lots of them are coming out of the woodwork for this show.
