What's the Holy Grail of rare parts?

Saw this at Dennis Carpenter's. Ambler OHC cam setup with dual mag drive for Y-block Ford.

 

Quarter Panels for my 1968 Galaxie Convertible!

Anyone know of where I might find some NOS or solid used ones? I don't want the crappy repair panels that are out there.

Headlight fluid, saw it for sale once, guy wanted 8 first borns and a few sets of an arm and a leg.

 

an 871 blower manifold for a MEL. 671's are hard enough to find.

bought a 27 "T" turtle deck running driving 327 4=speed with kinmount discs for a grand in 72 didnt even know what the brakes were pulled them off & put on some 56 F 100s gave the kinmounts away oh well

 

Funny you mentioned this. I did find one one on eBay a few years back, and the guy was quite knowledgeable on it. It was made for the salt flat guys. Kind of wish I bought it, but it was too rare for me and better someone else got it.
I was looking for Hone overdrives and found one of Long 's quickchange overdrive/underdrive units that was made for the Doug Nash 5-speed. It fits between the the tail section and the 2-pc. main body of the trans, and has a service cover that allows access to a quick-change gear setup inside, so you can move your ratios up or down as you like. Supposedly also for the salt flat guys. Tried to contact people at Long (as in Shifters, now part of G-Force), even their oldest employees didn't remember this stuff, or acknowledge it. Can't find anything about it, but want to use it in my speed machine project, with a Hone overdrive on the 9" rearend. I've gotten a few of them now for the 9" and 8" and universal-style, so if anyone has question (besides if they are for sale), ask away.

 

I think a Hen Weighs about 2 1/2 or 3 pounds.

I'd almost swear that was the same unit I was going to buy off eBay several years ago. Ended up going the Hone overdrive route instead, and put the quickchange gears in the trans (see above). Your assembled rear is otherwise identical to mine: Winters housing, Moser thru-bolt aluminum third member, and the Hone planted on the end. Low unsprung weight. Very nice.

I'm guessing this gauge panel is from a 32 Studebaker COE or big truck. It has a air pressure gauge, and a 4k tach. I added the oil temp gauge, the gauge was missing but had the glass same as the other side. Also the speedometer odometer is 6 digit for up to 999,999 miles. Has anyone ever seen one of these ? I'm sure it would be a hard to find item.The 2 duplex intermediate gauges are 2 5/8. The 2 small temp gauges are 20's-30's wood boat style.

 

Well, for me , it would include finding a pair of just useable seat frames for a 53-6 Ford Panel Delivery. Remember , for every ten G M C's and Chevrolets , one Ford panel got built during this time frame . scrubba

 

Im not entirely sure but i recently saw an entirely vintage super charger for a flathead on a 36 3 window a few weeks ago. it was pretty badass and ive never ever seen or heard of one.

It's an Offy cross ram. Edelbrock and Weiand both made them for BBC also. Normally we wouldn't use a BBC as they weren't made until '66, but the customer had it for years, and wanted to use it. It's also got a Cerillo Mag by Len Hughes w/Tach Drive. It HAULS ASS.

 

My finned Oldsmobile finned Edelbrock "57" valve covers with the 57 cast in below the Edelbrock both cast on top and my filcoolater beehive oil filter. Cool items.
