I am building a 29 ford coupe and trying to stick to the early 50's styl hotrod. I am running fenders with white walls, chopeed 4 inches,, and running a flatty v8. I was wondering what would be a good engine color that some one would see on a early 50's coupe hotrod? I am running early edelbrock heads and intake also.

    thanks

I'm only going by what I've seen in books etc; (I'm too young!)
Except for the Hammertone, which a few of the old boys thought was pretty 'flash'- not sure if that one applies in USA. Apologies..

Some of the show car crowd would paint the engine block, heads and intakes the same color as the body.

black was not a color done on engines very much. I can't remember any road or race car done in black when I was young.

Not til the Target motors from GM started, when was that, 80's?

It's just that it was about mechanics then, not obsessing over having a cookie-cutter car that was correct in every detail like today.
