Hope this isn't too late for the new thread. Here's pictures in progress of our new 2-piece cylinder head for pop-up domed pistons. The pieces will be joined by aluminum dip-brazing, re heat-treated and then final machining. With std. bore and our design piston the comp. ratio will be 9:1, with 4.0 bore this increases to 9.5. Front surface of head is designed to allow either stock A pattern or 21 stud V8 pump. Provision is made for the stock dist. but it will not be drilled thru as these heads were intended to be used with our front cover with the dist. mount. With our skills & the small quantity to be made, the cost of a (good) casting would be a lot more in time & $$$$ so we decided on fabricating them. Certainly no purist would be caught with one!

Look at earlier posts by BHT8BALL and be amazed love the workmanship

  6. I don't have anything to buy or sell but i think that is a nice piece of work. What are you going to use for intake valves? What diameter? I'm considering 1 7/8" next time I pull the engine down. Probably open the seat area up to 1 5/8". I will have to go with a CI Winfield "Crows Foot" to get clearance.

Just curious, what is the reason for the new head? More power? What?
    Thanks

  19. Bluto; I did order a pair of Grose Jets for the Zeniths but they haven't arrived yet. I have been working most of the week (I check drawings for engineering offices on an "as needed" basis) and have been trying to catch up on a bunch of neglected issues around the house and on the "every day":( cars. I am going out to the shop this afternoon however, to check a few items off your list. Thanks again for your help and concern and I will keep you up to date with my findings.
Hope you are feeling better Jim:)

  21. I knew that Jim and I'm sorry if you thought that I was being sarcastic. I wouldn't be that way , I was just telling you what was up as you were kind enough to offer your help when I asked for it.

Bill & others, thanks for your appreciation for all the hard work, I am now learning from my son & couldn't have done this without his help. Son Brian has a '29 rpu in progress, thru helping me with banger projects he is now considering not using a V8 flathead and installing a banger! ( Applause now please! ) Hope we can keep the bangers alive a few more generations. Bill, the finished chamber will allow a 1 7/8 intake & 1.7 exhaust valve. There is also room for an oversize cam with lift up to .500, this head will accept the Best 509C head gasket. Pat

The intent is that with higher compression without restricting the transfer passage will translate into more hp. Next project is to make my Schenk dyno opperational and verify or demolish my hopes, Pat

I am not sure either Pat but we better point out that they usually post Banger helpful hints at the start anyone new please read the helpful hints at the start of last months thread.
Hey Pat be a devil and post a picture of your front plate alongside that head just so the banger fans can see the 'New Traditional' that I am talking about.

I'll go back and read the instructions tomorrow, maybe I can copy & paste them in. Anyway here's a mockup for a Bonneville engine with Hilborn pump & Scintilla mag. There are 3 positions available to clock the pump, I didn't show the damper because there was a burr on the crank keeping the hub from going on. I'm including a picture of Lee Hammock's track roadster to show the damper. Pat [my pictures were rejected 3 times so i'll try a different approach]
