who gives a flying flip what everyone else is building or calling what their building do it for you the way you want it and enjoy / if it was mine i would make it a gasser
Here's a neat car I saw in front of the hardware store one day...very interesting....it defies description using the modern vernacular. He's had it a long time, and gets a kick out of driving it all over. I think he said he was getting ready to head up to the northwest when I talked to him last

Trends differ in location. I want to build a gasser to piss off the the guys where I live. The majority of cars around here are over restored trailer queens, or the good guys style pos pro touring rides. If I wanted it to handle like a ferrari I wouldve bought one.
I'm not sure where the OP is from where gassers are so common. I hit a lot of Central NJ cruse nights and shows and gassers (which "I" really like) are hard to find, maybe one out of 15or less tri five chevys are done that way. I went to Radir wheels show to spificially see gassers and even there there were more non-gasser chevys.
Don't get too upset...It's like when people look at my Primed 39' and ask, "What color are you gonna paint it?" When I think about Gassers, It reminds me of the old Drag days, before "Breaking out" came along! I miss "Heads up" racing and Lo-Buck builds.

I got my Oct 2011 Hemmings the other day and in an article by Terry McGean about Retro Rubber, he mentioned a term or trend that is new to me, the "Day Two" look. Essentially, it is using period speed or dress-up parts the average Joe might have used to modify his muscle car post-delivery. On the surface, it sounds like a term or trend that allows for some wiggle-room on the purely stock, numbers matching collector game. But it also describes the cars I remember in the mid-60's... trick stuff here and there to personalize the look, make it look fast, or even actually make it a little faster. Used cars or new. Gary
So isn't the message here to do what you want and screw what anyone else thinks of it. Isn't that what the guys of the 40's and 50's were doing ?
Believe it or not that 56 I posted used to be a 4wheel drive over in Cheektowaga ! Someone had installed jeep axels front and back and 33's !! Bob put a stock frame back under it and added a 427 but left the body alone, it had that cool paint on it allready, crazy people and their 4x4's.
I guess i'd rather see a bunch of fake gassers than Pro-street cars with 1000 pounds of ugly billet on them and wheel tubs bigger than...well, something big. But both fads suck, IMO. REAL old gassers are still cool, though. Im a big fan of subtleness. Gassers, prostreet, over the top rat rods....not subtle.

The " Day 2 " term has been around for awhile esp in the Muscle car world. Lets say you bought a 1968 Nova SS. By weeks end you would have headers , crager's etc on her, hence the Day 2 term

OK then. A lot of fast dependable Tri-5s when I was a kid, very few of them had straight axles. Anyway now that your blood pressure has returned to normal grab a wrench and build it.
