Remember Your First Model Car?

That's me! Yeah, I got it...

 

After some searching I think probably was the 1961 36 Ford kit in this picture. The roof was a separate piece and it could be built a variety of ways. There was even a choice of Ford or Chevy engines. I guess they are quite rare now. It's probably in Mom's house somewhere.

I really butchered mine up!.. No paint on it at all, but I did use a whole tube of Testors glue on it...

 

I think i was 11 and monster trucks were king and big foot was the first one.

 

How long did they build this kit? My brother had it in the early 90's and it was molded in metallic maroon and had both tops, I still have it and most of the unused parts sitting in a box.

My first was a 98 Dodge, slammed with spinner(EW), boy I was a dumb 8 year old. Then my next one was a 51 Chevy Coupe, I painted her metallic lime/metallic purple, but I laid the paint on too thick and tossed it in the garbage, such a dumb kid I was...

 

Like any life-changing event, for me, it was Monogram's Black Widow T pickup, soon followed by the Green Hornet, then AMT's 1934 Ford pickup and 1940 Ford coupe. Still have some of the parts, and recently bought a few original kits on eBay for display. That Testors "plastic cement" gets me high!

 

Ditto on that Testors glue...
Sometimes I take a break while I'm assembling something and go get some air....

 

Are you asking me? Because if I look I know there is an old 126 photo of this model the day my brother finished it, and I am happy to a photo of it, but it's nothing spectacular.

Just put this together with my grandson before he goes home tomorrow morning

 

The first one I really completed (yeah there was failed attempts) was a Plymouth GTX. I took my time detailed everything and even used a needle to paint the trim, door handles, etc. It lasted about 6 months and then I came home from school to find a friend of the family's 5 year old crashing it down our staircase. That was the end of my model building days!

 

I do have a kit of a 31' Sedan to build like my car but don't think I have the hands for it anymore.

Bummer! I had a 1941 Lincoln Continental that I did a good job on and I was really proud of. I had painted all the details like the gauges and knobs on the dash. Thread for spark plug wires on the V12. My brother stayed home sick from school one day and I told him not to touch that model. I came home from school, sat on my bed and there was this horrifying CRUNCH! I pulled back the covers to reveal my smashed 41 Lincoln. My brother had been playing with it on my bed and my covers were the garage. I should have made my bed that morning.

 

Don't you hate it when that happens???
I sat on one of my BiG T chassis rails and cracked it in 2 pieces..
No biggie! It was a clean break and it can be glued back together with some super glue..

 

It's back! Due out at the end of the month.. The Revell '32 Ford 3W coupe...

The first release is from the late '90's I think.. I do have a couple of those, but I haven't started of them.... Yet!
I'll dig up the box and snap a photo of it tomorrow..

Mine was the AMT double Model T kit and I still have the model at home along with several others.

I thought about pickin' one up this weekend..

 

My first model was a 1940 Ford Ragtop....now if only I can find who made it....

 

It was most likely a 1/32 Palmer kit. Maybe a Lindberg...

 

First model was a Cobra 427. Nothing fancy, but I was proud of it. I've recently gotten back into models. Currently working on replicating the Penske Indy 500 front row of 1988.

 

A 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe was my first. Flathead with two fours. Blue paint (rattle can) and my Dad chewed the shit out of me because I got overspray all over the garage! I was 11.
