I figure instead of having two dozen Bonneville picture threads. Lets dump all our photos on one kick ass thread where we can all see what others saw. I'll start with some of mine.

Bonneville kicked my ass this year, I only got 2 1/2 days of shooting. The flooded tent, combined with getting my rental van buried in the mud after the rain storm, and my son being covered in huge swollen bug bites.......Damnation. I had to leave early.

Friday evening was great. Got the tent set up and headed over to the Casino to check out some cars.

There weren't as many cars at the Casino this year, but there were so many people it was hard to see the cars. So I only took a few photos at the Nugget.

Now it is time for some racing action on Saturday.

Mike Cook, making some serious speed!

After a wild nasty looking spin out, The ACME car came to rest. I met up with the driver at the Burger King and he told me he hit something, which blew the tire , which threw his vehicle in a spin.

A shot of a fellow HAMB'RS car from one of my shoots that evening.

Some shots from Impound the next a.m. These guys earned their red hat a few hours after this shot. They were running a blown 54 GMC inline six. Friggin awesome!

    That's Mr Church to YOU!

    The next evening.....

I should have run for cover and saved my tent instead of watching this thing blow in.

My last shot....the lightning was literally cracking all around us, it was time time to run for cover , cause the 70 mph winds were on their way!

I got back to my tent, and this it what it looked like. 2-inches of slippery muddy water. We threw everything we could into the rental van, and tried to drive out of there, got buried in mud up to doors trying to get out.

Finally got the last hotel room around 12am and spent half of the next day digging the van outta the mud. I looked like an aborigine covered in mud when I was done, but I didn't have to call a tow truck unlike some of the poor bastards who had motor homes. There were tractors pulling some of them! Bonneville kicked my ass this year.

The bend. I didn't know of any new camp sites other than the KOA.

  8. The "new" areas were up the hill from the bend between us and you. Lost my tent as well, just barely made it out in the truck. It was epic.

  9. Glad I had a room this year. I'm such a lightweight I got chased out by the wind and glare induced headaches my first year...Bonneville Inn came though in a pinch that year...sometime in the 80s.
I've since learned to wear wrap-around shades and get a room.

Yeah after 11 years of going to Bonneville, I think I'm going to have to look into buying a trailer or just save up more money and get a room.

Tman, I never saw you after the wind and rain, guess it destroyed you as well this year.

  11. I had to leave early Monday so I got off the mudflat after the rain stopped. I did not want to tear up the half dried gumbo in the AM so I bailed. Tim told me you had a hell of a time getting out. My 4wd would not lock in:eek:

  12. i just need a picture of that T gow job on the salt with just the mountains in the background and that would make my year

You're the best picture-taker ever. Glad you got the old Minivan out of the mud soup Mikey. I would have come down and helped, but your wife said you were calling a tow truck...

Just a few piss-poor attempts of mine. My first trip to Bonneville. Decided at 9 p.m. on Wednesday night that since I am unemployed I should at least work on my bucket list. So, Thursday morning bright and early I pulled the trusty Suburban out of the driveway and made a run from Mississippi to Utah. If you've never been-just do it! If you have questions about how and what to do, email me. I emailed a couple of people beforehand who were very helpful. I'll try to answer any question, no matter how seemingly insignificant.

Thanks to the guys at the Bend who were very hospitable and friendly and to all the members of SCTA and all the other volunteers who make this quite complex event run quite smoothly.
