The intakes that ford put on 69-70 boss 302 cars were buddy bar casting. RLS

They also made a cross ram for the 289-302 with the Windsor heads... Looks almost like the Z/28 302 version but it has a "finned" top plate...

Some of the COBRA-lettered small block ford intakes, valve covers, and oil pans were made by Buddy Bar ... I think most of the intakes were functional equivalents of the Edelbrock F4B ... Or vice versa.

I had one...Bought in 75' for $200 from a fellow in IL, sat on the shelf for 30 yrs and I figured out that I wasn't ever going to build enough engine to go under it so I sold it in 05' to a fellow in CA for $585.00...Basic pic, it didn't seem to have any marks from being mounted..Was availible with single 4v top plate, don't know if it came with both or was a choice....Only seen one other that Mustang Unlimited had for sale at a swap meet..

Buddy Bar ran a foundry that produced manifolds for Edlebrock in addition to short run products for a number of individuals. As a side note, Fred Offenhauser and his brother Carl split the sheets and Carl went to work for Buddy. Probably the two best foundry men in the business under one roof.

Buddy Bar Casting is still in business in Southgate, CA. They just did my brand new Baron flatheads and the castings are art.

  18. They had a booth at the 2010 SEMA show. The items they had on display were mighty fine.

  19. I had a Buddy Bar 351 Windsor intake I sold a while back. It was actually sold over the counter as a Ford part back in the day.

The factory 390 and 406 tri power engines had Buddy Bar cast intakes.

Most of the early Ford intakes, valve covers and even some cast headers were all done by Buddy Bar..................and they still do high end stuff for almost every manufacturer.
The early Buddy Bar items like intakes were done in short runs.
You can take a look at their home page and some of the companies they do runs for. As for them doing a production run of intakes..................All of the molds for the Ford intakes/Valve covers were owned by Ford.....................a 351w Buddy Bar intake like the one I have pictured sells for around $800.
Although they are rare and very desireable by collectors, their performance falls short of most intakes by todays standard.............IMHO

Neat stuff..Which is the rarest? Got to be one of the 6v for B302, 351c, or the TP 302 Cross rams?

cool stuff. this 351C i have has a odd intake on it, dunno if its cause it was switched to propane back in 1970 and the propane conversion uses special intakes, or just a after market intake that got used cause its what was on the engine during the gas crises..

that webpage is cool.. so many cool intakes.

In the 80s I bought a three two intake for small block Ford at Stafford Springs Swap just because it was so cheap. When I got it home and looked it over, it was marked Buddy Bar. I was told by the Ford guys in our club they were sold over the counter at Ford dealers. I ended up swapping it to a guy with a 289 Fairlane for something or other.
