great read, I knew about the exhaust already as I had an aspen, i see a alot of individual pipes in the pictures, he's not kidding, run 1-2-3 together on one set of headers, and 4-5-6 on another and tie then back together after about 6-8 feet, i did this myself on one and it makes a huge difference, it's all in the scavenging

I still need to make some aluminum wedges to level out the adapters, then get 2 more Webber 32/36 carbs and build the linkage.

i haven't driving a slant 6 since i was a kid [had a 67 barracuda S] but remember that motor was a great engine, just a couple quick questions how do you level the engine?off the intake?and how do tell the difference between 225 & 170's.

Dduck, the carb pad needs to be level. Look right behind the coil and alt bracket - small section of the deck sticks out past the head. scrap off any gunk and you shoud see a series of numbers/letters stamped into the surface - the only numbers possible are 170,198, or 225 - there ya go! A quick eyeball is to look at the small piece of hose between the head and water pump - couple inches or so = 225 less prolly 170. Hope this helps. Great thread!:D

I know next to nothing when it comes to automobile carburetors,i'm getting a 225 slant 6 with a Offy 4 barrel intake for my car.well the guy wants to keep the carb off it,the only carb i have is quad-a-jet [size unknown at this time] & i have 2 Edelbrocks, i got em from a friend who ram em on his toys-so i know they worked at one time, they're both stamped,
    carb #1 is 1405 2261- #2 is 1405 0492.
so what size are they? and can i jet em down to run on the 225 /6 with a kit?
    any help or ideas?

Find out what carb was on the motor when the previous owner was running it and try to match it. Slants in their stock form hate 4bbls unless you port the piss out of the intake and head. In my daily driver 69 D100 SWB I run a 225 with a bigger cam, headers, ported head/intake, Offy 4bbl intake with a 400cfm carter and that carb is still a little big. The good combo for a slant is... Offy intake, Holley 390cfm carb.

1405 is a 600cfm carb...way too big for a stock or lightly modified slant.

Oh and whatever mopar engine you have, get rid of that shitty big ass stock starter and get a mini starter off a Dakota. They bolt on to everything from a slant to a hemi!
