  1. really like those 41-46. saw a 46 GMC at Jefferson swap(WIS) maybe 3 yrs back that was for sale, should have bought it. think the guy was from Racine. if anybody knows whose got it now, let me know, just might go after it.

Thanks LT. I appreciate the info. Also, thanks for the info about the ratio. Good to know.

I hope it comes out half as cool as your truck.

Ah right. That just proves that you should never let a Brit tell you about yank cars!

What am I thinking of then? Is it a C60 or something? Sure my 12 bolt came out of a 70s chevy truck of some sort - and it's definately 6 lug....

Yours was from a C10, C10's had 6 lug in the late 60's, early 70's had 5 lug, not sure why the difference, Not sure when but all C10 went to 6 lug at some point,, but that C10 refers to 1/2 ton, C20 would be 3/4 (8 Lug) and C30 is 1 ton(also 8 Lug). S series refers to S10 Chevy and S15 GMC Sonoma's... which are basically the same truck and all had 5 lug.

btw- I tried using late model chevy rims (just for rollers) on my 41 and they rub on the e-brake cables, and almost hit the leaf springs,, there is a lot of backspacing on late model rims, so you probably cant use them,, unless, the new diff is wider by at least 2-3 inches, then you should be fine.

  9. Not sure of the width, but the rear ends from the Isuzu Rodeo/ Honda Passports of the 90's are a Dana 44 set up, with 6 lug and disc brakes. Stock, they usually sport a 4:30 to 1 ratio.

I knew what you meant, LT. You just hit the S key instead of the C key, right?...they are close to each other. ;-)

I am sure they didn't start making S-10 (it's really a "MINI" pickup) until around 1982 or 83.

Well I knew it was something like that. I had the right picture in my head but was guessing a bit with the model numbers.

It's like they say - "better to let people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove it". words I should try to live by!

Good luck with finding the parts you need anyway. It should be easier for you over in the US than it was for me.

  13. Who's running a non-stock bumper on theirs? Looking for ideas!

Landrover one on the back of mine as a quick fix.

  15. Bumper on the rear is non stock, aluminum unit I just built. I had to have something for the pretty ladies to step up on, and it also acts as a bottle top catcher.

Sorry for the delayed answer, but I was referring to the difficulty of the swap. My end goal is a show quality street rod, so tons of attention has been paid to ensuring gaps line up and what not.

Hopefully, come July, we'll get back to work on the build (had to take some time off, couple projects and new baby have taken all my time). Probably have another 4 weekends of work finishing mounting everything.

I had a 50 desoto ribbed bumper on the front of mine. Looked good just needed a pan made for the top gap. Going back military on it now. I would part with it if any of you local guys are interested.

I'm running a 350/700R4 10 bolt out of a 75 Nova, The engine is slightly enhanced, bore 030, RV cam, partially boxed frame with TCI Mustang II. The bed is Mar-K,
