Vintage shots from days gone by!

First time seeing a head-on front shot of the "DRAGULA" like this one... And yes, the car features the very best of different custom car genres-- Certainly pre-dates the "RatRod" era with the cobwebs and such... Herman looks pretty darn happy in the driver's compartment... Sure was a neat fringe benefit of his MUNSTERS gig to get seated in such a groovy ride...

The reason for the cabose was to spot hot boxes, the cars used bronze bearings packed with hemp and oiled. They tended to catch fire, so they would stop the train and pull out the packing, replace it and then go on down the track. When they went to bearings they didn't have the problem any more. I watched this as a kid in the 40's, The D&RG went by in back of dad's store in New Castle CO.

Description

Black and white print of the Maine Central Railroad Station that was built in 1871, remodeled in 1889 and torn down in 1941 to make way for a brick station built on nearly the same site in 1941. Locomotive and coal cars have just crossed the Kennebec River from Woolwich via the Carlton Bridge, which was built in 1927. C. W. Tinkham took pictures in Bath from 1938 into the mid-1970s.

Fergusson 4 wheel drive Mustang.
Fergusson converted a few fords to 4 wheel drive, including a batch of zodiac mk4's for the police - they also were the FF (fergusson formula) in the Jensen FF which were 4 wheel drive.

I once saw them testing at the MIRA proving ground on the test hills with 3 wheels on slippy plates and only one wheel getting good grip. Very impressive on a 1 in 3 hill. I think some pics of the Mustang may have been taken at Mira, on the wet grip circles.
