Okay, for some reason I've received several emails and PM's lately on Hemi dimensions and unfortunately I have virtually NOTHING in the way of drawings and diagrams. Been meaning to do some for a long time, but haven't had time to do them.

SO! I'm starting a thread that can serve as a location to put all early Chrysler, DeSoto, and Dodge Hemi measurements, diagrams, and whatever else you have that will be helpful. Very little out there. I will be adding this to the HEMI Tech Index.

    Post up dimensioned drawings of:

    - blocks
    - engine assemblies
    - transmission and/or bell housing mounting patterns
    - component dimension (i.e. oil pump mounting flange differences, water pumps, etc.)
    - mounting ear locations
    - overall engine dimensions

or anything else that would help with installation, chassis design and construction, fitment, identification, etc., etc. If you guys aren't sure how to post pictures, can't post pictures, or are simply someone that lurks but doesn't post, you may PM me the info or I can give you my email and I will post them for you.

NOTE: As always, lets keep this limited to first generation Mopar Hemi and Poly engines. Daimler Hemi dimensions are welcome as well!

So this has been added to the tech index...

Anyone have anything that would like to add?

Both of them open fine for me. Any basic cad software that opens the .dxf file extension should be fine.

I don't use Windows, but Linux. The tool I use to look at them is called QCad. It's free and very simple. I've been using it for years now, and I really like it. It doesn't have any where near the features of a real cad system like AutoCad or Solid Designer, but it does what I need. I'm sure there are free simple cad softwares out there that run on Windows and Mac. You should also be able to find and install a free .dxf viewer too.

    I hope that helped.

Keep the info coming guys. Some posted JPEG files would probably a better format for some.

Not the place for this question. And the answer is also no. Please check out the HEMI Tech section we've put together or do a search. This has been discussed many times.

Scott, it is too bad that folks won't go back and delete posts that they put in obviously incorrect threads, and in this case, a duplicate from another thread!
I had hoped that this thread might actually stay 'clean'...

Now, back to our regularily scheduled programme...

Here is the back of the EarlyHemi / pre-62 A series. (Not the 51-53 331...)
....on the count of 3, everyone go make their own adapters....

Good stuff guys! Keep it going!

And I agree, Gary. I was hoping we could keep this one "much free" as well.

I'll grab my camera this afternoon and work on some extended bell 331 dimensions. I also have a 354 water pump sitting here that I could get some dimensions off of.

My exact thoughts. But only after they email you and want to know the thicknesses, etc. :)

Well... I was literally about to go take some measurements on one of the extended bell, but it looks like that will not be needed. HAHA! Now THAT is some detailed dimensioning!

    THANKS!!!

    Is the hole/bolt pattern for a '54 331 available?

Looks like it would be similar to the drawing posted, but on the 331W that I have, the bottom of the block is at the crank centerline.

Look a bit closer...the dimensions are off of crank centerline.

If you look at your block again, you will see that the main caps are recessed in the block. The centerline of the crank is not even with the surface of the block.

Came across this old but good thread the other night and wanted to bump this to share the "blue prints" TR Waters posted way back when. Good information shouldn't gather dust.
