Need help with mystery car I have been asked to help a widow sell of a collection of cars, tools and you could not imagine what else. I have been doing ok so far and she is getting the property and taxes under control one piece at a time. I have this car that's nothing I have ever seen before its a kit from way back in the day. There's nothing on it to tell me what or were it come from, I was hoping maybe just maybe someone on here would have some info. Thanks in advance.
if it was a kit car, what is the drive train. can you tell? etc, looks kinda cool.. good luck. chris.
yes it does! at first i thought a corvette roof, but nash is dead on bumpers are chevy, lights are chevy, this whole thing is just someones custom!
Front end kinda has a Kaiser-Darrin look to it, but I think you're on the right track with some sort of kit. Maybe look through some old Popular Mechanix mags, seems like there used to be small ads for something similar.
That's one of the more insane early sports car cut-down customs I've seen, would really like to see it sitting outside.
58Chevy tail lites,Mustang hubcaps and shifter,Nash top,VW steering wheel and column, somebody spent alot of time on that thing.Does it have the Mustang drivetrain too?
Look up Lawrence Beeskow, and a car called the "Romestch"... If that is, in fact, on of those, even in it's present condition it's probably worth $10-15k... PM me for any more details, I can put you in touch with the former head Honcho of the Romestch Registry here in the US...
Thats a later, "Banana" or "Beeskow" Romestch. Try to find a photo of Phil and Maribeath Leadley's car (Google it, I am fairly certain it will show up) and you'll see what I mean. Here's one that my friend Lenny Copp owned, he has had up to 3 of them in his shop at one time, and they are one of the rarest of VWs... http://www.vwtrendsweb.com/features/0106vwt_rometsch/index.html
It looks to me like a very rare Kurtis probably one of the 500 series from the mid fifties.. It has all the tell tales of it. I'd love to see more of it.
I assure you....there is absolutely NOTHING Kurtis on that car. It is a homebuilt, however the OP has not yet (or I missed it) advised us whether it is fiberglass body or something else. If somebody were to roll that outside after removing all the crap sitting on it, hosed it off, you'd see "Ugly Incarnate" for sure.
I think its fiberglass and fenders from a 40's bulbous fendered car were used as molds, maybe cadallac?
Ok been googling the hell out of all the leads still don't see a match. the car is fiberglass on a steal frame it has a ford v8 looks 302 ish. Its going to be eBay bound soon would really like to know what it is. Thanks for the help.
