One I am working on;

 

Here are some of my favorites - lots of ways to top off a roadster.

 

Here is what I came up with. It is made with Model A irons and a mix of 32 and Model a bows with a modified 32 header. We came up with the radius of the window opening by using a 15" moon disk. 3" chop and windscreen laid back a bit.

Does anyone have an original 32 roadster top they wanna sell???

 

What a look! I like that a lot, the lack of tube shocks really makes a car look so much better IMO.

 

The Topster. Comes apart for storage, 2-piece cast aluminum header ( not the usual 4' length of wood with the material attached), top material comes off and stores wherever. www.topsters.com

 

Thats one of the better tops i've seen.

 

It appears that Topster Tops are out of business..... Checked the link which was no good... Searched the internet and once again nothing comes up.... Is there anybody that has contact info for TOPSTER..... How about a Set of Instructions for TOPSTER 32 Roadster Top..... Seriously looking to purchase one for my current Project.

Hey Folks! Yes, I am not making complete Topsters anymore , too much hassle from the $#$%^ tax people etc , but I'm making the 2 piece aluminum windshield headers for those wanting to make their own top frames. I make those for stock style windshields, Duvals, and Dan Fink style, and they're all custom made to fit thye specific car. You can contact me at [email protected]. Larry

 

I think you should do a tech thread on how to make the frame and do a top of our own.

If you aren't doing them any more then why not ?

It's too bad, I have been considering hauling my RPU down to Michigan to Rod Tops.

I like the take apart fold up into a small bundle idea and so far they are the best option.

Will be quite a haul from Alberta, Victoria was a little closer.

 

I like the looks of this one.... Sure beats the Conastoga Wagon Look... Nice low profile.....

 

Probably the main reason I never had a top on my roadster was I couldn't decide on one that looked right to me! HRP

 

That's Chad Fergen's (fergenboysinc) roadster and he built that top by himself in his garage. He did a thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=322596 on it but the pictures are gone but it turned out great!

This belonged to a friend of mine in 1947, it was done in Portland Oregon, quite possibly the same shop Tom Medley worked at before moving to California. Notice how low this car sits for that time frame.

This is what I started with. Pretty sure the bows are repro. I was a little apprehensive at first but I like the shape. Slanted rear curtain. Now if I win the lotto I can get it covered. That will be another apprehensive event. Can the trimmer see what's in my head? I'm thinking of making a pattern from butcher paper for him/her. For me it's sooo critical!.

 

Would be nice to see some close up photos of the header attachment...

VERY cool ! It's really important that the curve down at the rear of the side opening is the same angle as the lean of the back or it won't look right. Just sayin!

 

If you need a very cool windshield header I make a 2 piece cast aluminum one that comes apart in the center, so you're not trying to store a 4' header! email me at [email protected] for pics etc.
