I picked this up at the Long Beach swapmeet today...I got it from a seller who i've bought stuff for years from, tells me that he has had it for 35 years and it was old when he got it. He says that Isky ran a similar hood ornament (radiator shell ornament) and thats why he bought it. He pulls it out of a plastic bag that some other small stuff was in and some guy immediately starts fondling it...how much he asks? Now a hopeless bystander...seller tells him $100...buyer says, how about $50....$60? Seller says nope want $100. The buyer backs away for a minute and since I was already buying other stuff I told him I wanted it...

So here it is...what do you guys think? Its 12" long...aluminum...stamped with two small As on the top...I read on the net that Isky or someone made a "few" at Manual Arts high school...could the two As be a stylized MA? Also stamped "ART" on the bottom..looks primitive enough. All I know is that its cool as hell and its a keeper...

Thats the closest up shot Ive found of the ornament...it does have that style line on the bottom on the other side not shown...

A few years ago, I do remember seeing one of these on a thread. You might get lucky on a search. I would have bought it for that price.

Actually on the other side which I forgot to take a picture of its identical...the only difference is the top swoop near the tail end...all the sides, that detail on the bottom..shown on the side you posted...and face seem identical to me...

That does look different for sure...but the farther away shots dont show quite a primitive looking face as this one...
