Then it was back to the tent where a steady stream of folks resting their feet on my new mat were to be found.....

And it didn't take long before the afternoon got warm and Bigwop got sleepy. We found him laying like this----totally out of it----

You see he was worn out from the day before at the county fair tractor pull where he and his pulling partner Tom had 3 tractors going and they have to load and unload alot of tractor weights during the events. He even drives tractors on 2 wheels just like his cars.

Anyway---we thought he had passed away or perhaps----maybe foul play was involved. He has made alot of enemies in the tractor pulling world by winning consistently.....what if ???? someone had killed him? So we called in Iola's finest for some murder investigation.

Suddenly he moved and made some snoring noise and it was then we realized our great friend was still alive.....thank Heavens-----so everyone in the group handed back most of the things we had removed from his pockets and everything returned to normal. Thank you for not dying Bob---man, that was a close one.

That was pretty much the end of the swap meet for me on Friday. We loaded up and headed south for Jefferson for the night at Bob and Carla's. I had planned to stay at Iola all day Saturday but Lawrence wanted to go home. Well, we are home now and I hope he is happy in the over 100 degree weather and high humidity because that would make ONE of us. I miss the mild summer of Wisconsin already.

Early Saturday morning we loaded up the rig at Top Notch in Jefferson with L's new car purchase from Bob and headed south and west. Bummer.....

sorry your vacation was cut short.

but don't fret about missing our "mild summer weather"

It is now 100 in the shade and the humidity must be 90% or greater.

and some fool is going tractor pulling later on! Not fit for man, nor machine.

And a big thank you to my favorite Carla (Bob's girlfriend) for letting us stay at her spacious home and feeding us like the hogs that we are....this is one of the meals she had made for us....yum--

That twin West Bend kart is a Percival Hellcat or Wildcat (which ever one was a twin) made in Iowa. I think Frank Kurtis may have designed it if my memory is correct and I didn't see it. Probably didn't last long.

Dang, I forgot to mention some more new friends I met right away when I got to Iola. Barry (bear40) and wife Kathy from MN. I really liked them alot and he was talking Chevy trucks with L and I was talking sign painting with her. Their friend John who owns the coolest old Dodge truck ever was with them too part of the time. I may have made John mad when I offered to buy him some new shoes because his were coming apart. He assured me he was "ok" in the money dept. but his size of shoe was hard to find. Anyway, Barry and Kathy came by 2 or 3 times and I am happy to have met them.

what is it with you and worn out shoes?

don't you understand that some of us either can't afford new shoes or are too frugal to buy them?

same thing goes for new pants.
