Class of 78. Had a turquoise 63 Olds Holiday 88 coupe (394, reverse all the way down) that sat 7 or 8 in a pinch and a cherry 67 GTX 440/auto/column shift air car (shoulda kept it!) that my uncles Chrysler dealership took on trade with 29k original miles, gold with black stripes, interior and vinyl top. miss both of them.

1927 ford T roadster pick up made out of a sedan with a 289 . It was pretty crude but way cool. Oh but it really sucked in the oklahoma winter!

  7. Class of 86' I had a 65 Sport Fury that I had transplanted the 413 out of my New Yorker into it. Shift kit and dual glass packs... Neighbors hated me.

1970 Nova SS,396,4 speed, Black on Black, bench seat Deluxe interior.I ordered new from Tom White Chevrolet. My friend bought one just like mine ,only Fathom blue, .Mine first one is long gone, Now I have my friend`s. Almost as good as my first one and a lot faster. Now has a L-88 427 instead of the 396. Forty years later still feels good to row that BBC through the gears.:D

I don't know how cool it was but in 1980 it got me where I needed to go. It was a 70 Chevell Malibu w/ a 307, auto trans and bench seat. Which came in handy...nudge nudge :D Oh and it also had the AM radio w/ the FM converter. Cost me $1000.00 bucks

  20. A guy I knew had a 1967 Ford Torino GT 390 that was bad ass. I had this shitty CRX that everybody wanted because I went to a rice burner school. He wanted to trade me that car for the CRX. I thought about it for about two weeks and didn't do it because his Torino needed a new carburetor. I didn't know shit about any cars back then. I turned it down then sold the CRX a short time later. What a waste...

  22. class of 89, 63.5 Galaxie 500XL fastback, 390. Still got 'er too--it's my avatar.

It was funny--I went to a huge high school. When I was a freshman, the seniors all drove total shit--late 70s stuff, or borrowed their Moms' volvos and stuff like that. No pride at all--they were the "I put gas in and it goes" crowd. By the time I was a senior, we had tri-five Chevies, SS Chevelles and El Caminos, hopped up pickups from the 50s and 60s, a big 56 Caddy, Impalas, an old Stude, tons of Mustangs, etc rolling around campus. My brother had a 65 Ranchero V8 and my buddy had of all things a badass stock 68 Javelin with a 343. One guy had a 56 F100 with a blown SBC, and one guy even had this crazy more-door 64 Impala with stock skinny ass tires and bottlecaps, but sporting nitrous! I don't know what the hell was wrong with the earlier crop of folks.

Class of 1965. Drove a '49 Chevy Fleetline Deluxe 4-door sedan, all stock, with a Deluxe accessory steering wheel, :) and was kind of embarrassed about it then. Would LOVE to have it now. The good news is that, from time to time, I also drove my Dad's '46 Chevy half-ton, all stock, with a 216 and a floor-mounted top-shifter three-speed, and I still drive it today, but the drive train and the paint are all different now. :) The truck has been in my family since 1949, and I am friends with the guy that bought it new, and I graduated with his wife (who is much younger than he). Life is strangely marvelous, sometimes.

its been done but ill play along....
in high school everyone had a brand new safe, reliable POS....with the exception of some rich kid with a brand new (at the time) BMW M3...there was a friend of mine that had a 350 chevy in a 80s S10 who thought he was a bad ass...
I drove a 88 IROC with a 383...fun times! but at my school the majority of the students cared more about the decibles in their trunk than to cubic inches or 1/4 mile times..
everything pretty much O/T, the chicks where hot though.

If you had a car and could drive to school in ANY year, not only senior year you were a looser.
It meant you were thought of as a dumb shit, hopeless looser.
We cant get our license until 18. So if you were 18 in senior year you obviously were held back a year or two.
the only exception was the very rare person that started school at a much older age than what was normal.

Odd isn't it, being the other way around?

    Doc.
