EMS, cool idea. Is his a trip you've COMPLETED, or are we going to get to sort of cyber-ride-along with you? (I hope.)

Either way, could you tell at least name of each yard and the nearest town, not just the state?

    Thanks for the pix!

Great yard! You have to have more than 7 pics.

Where abouts in is that yard?

  7. The chrome trim on the 58 Ford looks interesting, though it looks factory stock I've never seen that trim combination before. Anyone who knows what it is?

this is the secound set of photos from yard #2. it took me 5 yeasr to get in this yard. the first time i tried the owner did not want to deal with me. this time i was able to get in as i made friends with a local guy over the last few years. so my new friends was able to give the yard tour. i walked about 1/3 of the rows in 4 hours

    it is a 58 ford

  17. Yes I know, a 58 Fairlane Town Sedan. And I did a web search and found others with the "middle crome trim", though those I've seen in real had only the "outer crome trim".
And you have some real nice junkyards!

I think it's the best looking trim you could get on a 58 Ford.

Below are a couple pics of a 58 2dr I found with that trim. Car was wrecked in 62 and parked.

yard #4 border of south dakota/wyoming, i have been here before about 4 years ago, the owner does not crush old stuff, but he is getting old, prices are cheap. i bought a 65 ford pick up 3/4 ton, almost rust free, will pick it up in 3 days will post pics then on the truck

the truck is a 64 not 65 3/4 ton, long bed, factory power steering on solid i beam front suspenstion?? 4 speed tranny, 6cyl cube's ?? it has duel tanks do not know if this is a factory option? dealer installed? or after market, but professionally done.

the temp rose to 100 deg f. i had started to make plans to leave the truck and trailer there. i could not tow in 100 deg heat the mountains have some huge grades that are long. (got 3500 gmc 6.o gas) and it could barely get the trailer there empty, but on thursday the temp drop to 80f. so i went to load the trailer. the temp dropped again to low 70's as a storm moved in. so i decided to take a chance to try and pull it. after talking with locals about other roads without long grades. i decided to back track into wyoming and cut down some paved back highways to go around the southern side of the mountain range. it was a 300 mile diversion, i still barely got over the smaller grades.
the windows were down and heater full max to keep the engine cool until the rain came and dropped the temp so more. i need more truck. it pulls ok on flat and small hills, but over heating is a problem, stopped in every little town for fuel. not home yet. maybe sunday

attached are some photos of the truck, and my girls had to get involved.

My tail's waggin' for an old Ford pickup- I love em. Just curious, why is the right side of the gauge cluster all dirty and the left is really clean? Have a safe trip back.
