Thanks for the Kind Words guys. I really appreciate it. I ordered the dropped uprights (kingpins and steering arms) and a steering rebuild kit from Jamco, but after 4+ weeks of waiting for parts on back-order (i guess they dont make their own parts) I decided to cancel my order. I agree that i need to slam this thing though.

Anyone know a Good Electric Fan and Shroud Setup for a '50? I think i need a Pusher. Preferably a LOT of CFM

 

Jamco took weeks and if you recall i cancelled the order. I noticed dropped uprights and steering arms on ebay. Then saw it was alex gambino / gambino customs (yes the sick ass tangerine matte 54 chev dude). I ordered these on Tuesday and they arrived today. Thats only 6 days. Which is about the fastest i ever received a part for the 50. Thanks Gambino, appreciated. Anyways, More stuff coming soon...

 

Took some saving to get it. Full FBSS AirBag Setup. Waiting on one more part to come in before she goes under the knife.

 

after a painful time of finding a good electric fan/shroud combo for the '50, i got here. Seems Walker Radiator made the only one (cooling components) specific to fit correctly. Unfortunately, i called them and they said they no longer carry that unit. the part number was listed as "CCI-1770". So i searched that on eBay and found 2 left. They (rodparts1234) don't accept PayPal so be prepared. Anyways, here it is.

 

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

There is a Tapered Pin that holds the Spindle on and i have spent the last 2+ hours trying to get this son of a b#tch out. I think i broke a knuckle on an angered missed swing. I am now using a heavy 3 pound hammer and a Drift Punch and it still wont budge. I dont have a torch but i do have a temper. I have tried drill bits, screwdrivers, bolts, railroad ties, everything and cant get this out. Here is a picture. Any help within my budget would be appreciated.

 

You're going to have to put some heat to that thing now!

thnks for the messages and comments. unfortunately i dont have "heat" torch etc.. think i will take chop's advice and grind them flat and then see if i can get it through. i got a lot to learn

 

Hey mate I just measured the hole in a spare spindle I have and the hole is not tappered? Maybe my spare is shot? Ive also just had a look in the green bible and can't find any details. Id get a wire brush and have a good clean up around the dowel so you can get a good look at what you are doing. Some tappered dowels only have a very minimal taper so its easy to hit the wrong end and bruise it up. Go drink a cold beer and eat a bag of chips then come back with a fresh set of eyes This usually works!

haha, man thats great advice. and i got drunk enough last night for all of us. thanks for checkin for me. i found this picture online though and they say to hit from the front towards the back - (even though someone else before me may have put it in backwards?
