    Burch Roark Special Circa 1955

Based on a '36 Ford Coupe, The body was damaged after being push started one too many times for lack of a good battery, The throttle cable was accidentally left in the 'pulled out' position on the dash and when they pushed it, the car ran away and hit a tree about 2 blocks down.

The damaged '36 coupe body was removed and thrown into the forks of the Clearwater and Snake rivers (Lewiston Idaho) to help shore things up during local flooding.

My facts on this could be a little off but basically when the depression hit both Cunard and White Star were both in financial trouble and that the two companies merged (possibly to secure financial government assistance). For a time, all of the liners of the two companies flew both companies' flags. On Cunard liners, the Cunard flag was flown on top with the White Star flag under it and The White Star liners flew their flag on top with Cunard's flag under it. Until finally Cunard fully absorbed White Star and it's liners into their fleet.

  20. So I'm checking out Shorpy (some GREAT pix on that site!), and found this one. It confirms what my dad told me many many years ago - that we weren't the first kids to get tanked up on cheap booze! :D  :
