If custom vans do make a come back this year blame it all on Coby, lol. If you go to your local newstand today and pick up a magazine in the automotive section you have about a 1 in 2 shot ot seeing Vango in it ... I think it's in 7 magazines at this point in their GNRS coverage.
As many have said pictures don't do it justice but I have a feeling the R&K feature by Marc and Coby will give those who haven't been fortunate enough to see it a pretty a good idea of what everyone is raving about.
There's a good chance it will also be in Hot Rod as the 2nd event Coby attended with Vango was our van show in Buena Park. That event is being featured in the July issue.
Congrats to Coby on designing and building what many consider the finest custom van ever built. Having been around the van scene off and on since 1976 I tend to agree with them.

i just bought it, but now i also found a factory a/c '69, so i need to sell this and make room for the new one. added rare factory ford slot mags, good tires and stripped out the interior. needs windshield gasket and sunroof seal.

originally from california, been in missouri for the last couple of years, as close to 'rust free' as you'll find away from southern california. easy weekend worth of bodywork and a quick re-spray to replace the horrible gold spray can version on it now. ridiculously straight considering it's age.

302 automatic, new brakes, including m/c functional sidepipes. the rebuilt carb still needs a little choke tuning, lube and adjust the shift linkage and you can drive it anywhere.

MANUAL steering, MANUAL brakes. lightweights and the easily bruised should probably look elsewhere...

    Thats a badass 68

  17. Thanks for the replies. Here are some more pre paint pic's of the 68. Got lucky with a super clean rust free body. Next on "the list" is replacing the 80s high back cloth buckets with some cool original COE seats I found in the wrecking yard. Then retrofitting a Vintage Air unit I scavenged from another rig last year..... tunes.... interior...etc. I will post pics as the list gets smaller

I'm not a van guy, but my son has an old 60 something D100 slant six and drives the hell out of it. It seems to be popular with people of all ages. Interior is pretty much Adams Family decor.

Sorry to see all the interest in a easily forgotten chapter in our lives. Vans did not belong in Hot Rod magazine 40 years ago, anymore than they belong on a traditional hot rod website today. Kinda like apples and oranges for you folks in Rio Linda. Let's let this thread croak! Just my two bits worth....Terry

Lots of other threads to read. Just like the TV, if you don't like the show hit the button and change the channel.
