Projects 1966 F100 "FE" Powered Project

  1. Nice trucks!

    Great story.

    Cool motor. I built a 390 for a '72 a few years back.

I learned how to drive on a '66, but it was beige with the 240cu.in. six.

uh yeah, wow. wicked fe's, f-100's.....subscribed. you sir are one thorough individual. every freakin vehicle in your pics is perfect. i think those aim beams are the only decent part they make, i had a set too and they are sturdy to say the least. i did have to slightly machine the top and bottom on mine to get the radius arms to fit over them. and yes that sheetmetal is ridiculous.

    Thanks ALL !

A few pics of the cherry cab and doors. Not even a ding in doors or fenders, hood pretty cherry too. Doors had a extra screw hole or 2 for mirrors but welded them up.

    Gotta love that bare metal...

Only trouble spot on cab was a minor cutout for aftermrket radio. Easy fix with a bit of metal work. Keeping stock AM radio and it does not have a large hole the radio fits into.

Beautiful sheet metal! How was the radiator core support? Even real clean trucks usually have some rust in them, there's a spot down low where dirt and moisture collect.

    I have a '66 F-100 myself, 352 with a four speed.

Man, where did you find the seat material? With the heatpress Ford emblem no less. I would love to find some for the 66 we are getting ready to restore!
Really nice truck your building BTW.

WOW!!!! I can see that now Your truck will be My alltime favorite. Im just awstruck its beautiful !!! The combination of parts and the craftsmanship is really off the hook.
Are You going to use the tunnelwedge intake with carbs? Looks like a Barry R stroker kit and Genisis block. My Son just took a g blocked 482 with ed heads (minor bowl work) a 571 solid cam med risor 2x4s and long cast iron manifolds out of his 50 Merc with a 4 spd. It was crazy fast to the point of dangerous! Youres will be at least 150 HP more!
Im gonna keep up with this post. GREAT JOB I LOVE IT !!!!!!! FEDER

  12. Son of a gun.....just happened to click on this build, expecting a quick-o project......and "THIS" truck emerges.....WOW. What a thorough job you are doing here.
I also have this soft spot for 427 FE engines, also!
Keep it up....it is a breath of fresh air!

Had one very minor spot, but I also had a perfect support I used.

It came from SMS fabrics in Oregon

Good eye! Yes, its a Genesis block and stroker kit which did come from Barry R, as did the CNC'd heads. I traded the other Side Oiler for a Semi Tractor, more on that reason in a bit. The Tunnel Wedge Intake (Original) will be used. I had NOS BT/BU Tunnelport-SOHC carbs but sold them and bought a new set from Barry R. I did respond to your PM.

THANKS! More to come in next few days.

Thanks All for the kind words! I have been out of town for 5days or so and unable to respond.

More info and pics over next few days. I uploaded a bunch of pics but need to make an attempt at organizing them in my photobucket before posting. Other wise it gets overwhelming to keep track and the links get broken when I move them.

WOW!!!!!!!!!! I havent decided on engine options yet, but Its gonna have big cubes. I do have an Edelbrock 6 deuce intake that will fit the era Im building it to, but if I find a clean blower manifold I may just have to get it..haha The truck is gonna be race influenced, and Jimmy Smith had a hand in taking my initial design concept to another level..That guy is an evil genius. I have some other things lined up before the truck, so itll be awhile before I let the rest of the cat out of the bag..I wish my metal was that nice!!!!, my passenger side floor needs work, but the rest of it is pretty clean. Just helps me not think twice about cutting into her

Any pics of what you are starting with? Big cubes are cool. Even a 445 is a neat FE.

For those that like these year trucks this is #3. A ultra rare Deluxe Camper Special "RANGER" a factory bucket seat F250. Know or have heard of only 2 others, one in Australia and one on west coast although have not verified either. Engine bay freshened up for my daughter to drive. She gets her license in a week or so.

Revamping the photo host. Have 686 pics of just paint and body so far. If they disappear I will re-do them once the photo host is re-organized. Far too many pics for one folder.

A few of inside of Fenders and after the bonding primer was sprayed.
Primer is DP74LF for those that want to know.

I always metal prep them prior to primer. Had good luck that way.

Cab with stacked carts. I made them so I could put cab cart on top of box cart for sandblasting. Gave lots of blasting room.

The box cart can also be used as a engine run stand

    Nice floors too!

cab after blasting and then bonding primer.

Edit Add 3/10/14 Did have a hole in firewall from a dealer installed a/c system. Most pieces were missing so just removed what was left and patched hole.

This truck I want to keep the weight down . .

    Very rough looking hole.

Made attachments for engine stands so I could position doors anywhere. nice for blocking and painting along with final buffing.

Red Oxide is primer to bare metal, gray is blocking primer

On to complete cab in blocking primer. Fingers were raw by the time I hand sanded every nook and cranny underneath and inside cab along with complete exterior.

    First coat of primer

after complete 1st guide coat and sand, added seam sealer then more primer and once again sanded every nook and cranny. A lot of hours were spent on this cab even up to this point. Cannot imagine doing it with a rusty or damage cab. Dont think the end results would have been the same.

Engine assy, checking compression ratio etc.
    Pre-fit and double-quadruple check everything.

Gotta love that original Ford Tunnel Wedge intake!

Somewhere in the mix found time to restore the original Instrument cluster and gauges, along with heater assy, wiper motor etc. Restoring gauges was most difficult.
Some times felt I had bit off more than I could chew but kept on plugging along. For sure overwhelming at times.
