Yea I shot them with a digital SLR type of camera throught the viewfinder of a 50's Kodak Duaflex box camera. I set the camera on black and white. They came out pretty good.

I had a great weekend in Santa Maria selling my art and meeting so many HAMB Friday Art Show fans including Allison, Weesner, Kent Reppert, Marcie, Max Grundy, 3 Sheets, J Cruz, Coby, Jack Hamilton, Jack Rudy, James Hedfield, Nash, Ghost, Makado, Rod Powell, Alex Gambino and tons more. All these guys stopped in and had nothing but encouraging words. They all knew me from this Friday Art Show which means they know you too.

I had stepped back to take some pictures of my booth and got this picture of Von Franco saying hi to Tom "Giant" Nye - who had a booth airbrushing shirts across from mine. Von Franco and Tom had toured the country with Ed Roth painting shirts back in the day and here they were meeting again for the thousandth time. On Piero's Mad Fabricator's "I Was a Teenage Monster Shirt Painter" DVD, Big Daddy looks into the camera and says his two favorite shirt painters at that time was Von Franco and Giant.

On behalf of "Giant" I'd like to post this shirt he airbrushed on Sunday. As you can see he hasn't lost his touch. He was the perfect demonstration of old school style and talent the entire show. And of course all the old legends walking the show knew him well.

And it also gave me a chance to meet Von Franco. He gave me great words of advice after complimenting my progress here on the FAS. I introduced him to my 80-year old dad and he got into a detailed discussion of Windsor Newton brushes, Pelikan inks, Higgins white ink and the tools of the trade over the last 40+ years. Von Franco is the real deal. All class, all talent, all cool.

Here is an original scratchboard titled "Von Franco's Shoebox" I did this week. I'm going to put it in my booth with a "Not for sale" sign on it and give it to him when I see him next.

It was an awesome weekend any artist would love.

Looking great so far. Here is a scratchboard I just finished for the Sins Of Steel show this weekend in Michigan. I'm on the road in a few minutes to head up there. My friend Kevin Carter "car=n=art" asked me to be a part of it and I am pumped! I bought a minibike for the races also. Anyways its 8"x10" of "Nanook". I love this image and couldn't resist trying it in scratchboard. Hope you like it. Make sure to stop by my booth and say hello and pick up some cool art!! Nate

I know this is not even close to hot rod art, but here's a pencil drawing my 14 year old daughter did of Salvador Dali. I thought some of you artists would appreciate the effort of a youngster. I'm trying to get her to draw some HAMB related stuff, hopefully she'll come through with some. But for now......
