Thats pretty just the way it is. V-8 4 speed and the wire wheel covers, makes it basicly a Ranchero Sprint (though the Ranchero wasn't available in "Sprint" trim). If its a factory V-8 4 speed Ranchero, thats probably pretty rare. Please don't change anything that can't be easilly put back. Is that original paint?

My daily driver for about six years. Towed a car trailer all over the state. Poor thing needs some attention but I would get in her tomorrow and drive across country tomorrow (after installing A/C).
I need to get off of my ass and get her presentable.

Go ahead and cut up your factory 4spd Rancheros. They're boring stock.

  9. Cool! I had one just like it! Sold it in '95. Mine was also black with red interior and a 4spd. Except the original 396/360hp engine wasn't there anymore. It had a 283 when i bought it, but i replaced it with a bored 350 that I had ready for a previous '66 elky project I had.

Very nice El Camino. How does he open the tailgate with the one piece passenger car tail lights?

I think i read somewhere that the lights come with the tailgate when he opens it.

  13. Here is mine in 1992. It was an Edsel conversion when I bought it, but changed it back to a Ford.

My good friend has a 66' Westerner Edition El Camino. From what I understand, it is a rare one. Along with others cars, this is his pride and joy. It was his mom's who bought it 2 years old in Montana where she lived. He had painted the original red about 5 years ago. This summer, his sending the powerglide off to be freshened up. The westerner also had factory side bed rails.

If you find the article showing this would you email it to me? They sure fit awfully nice to the 1/4 panels considering they're one piece that open with the tailgate. Thanks, Mike :) [email protected]

This was my old 64' Elky,... it had a 69' high compression 350 4blt. main engine, a M-22 Rock Crusher and a 3:55 gear, Flow Masters and 3" exhaust,... and all SS trim with buckets and counsel,... It was one of the most dependable cars I ever owned,.... I can't remember why I sold it years ago,... But whatever the reason,.. it wasn't a good one, Beause I really miss this car a lot !

One of the reasons I really like this site is because it is 63 and earlier. Yeah, I have a 64 camino. If you want to talk to me about it, log on to chevelles.com. My screen name is 64SS427. Leave the 64 and later stuff elsewhere.

That being said, I love sedan pickups. A nice 59 Camino, such as the black one in this thread would be ideal for me. I like Ranchero's, too. I passed on a 62 years ago, and currently know where a 58 is for free, but it's pretty rusty. I might pick it up for my 12 year old son in a few years if it's still there and the price is the same.

No one would give you crap about a 64 Elky, the board cut off is 64. even a 65 would not catch much flak, they are basically the same as a 64. all of the newer stuff that is being posted is what is causing the drama.

my train of thought about keeping within
    the proper years!
