  7. Cool pics of those bikes on the boards, model A keith. I was able to ride on the borad track once here in Vancouver before it was torn down, what a rush. It's like riding on a bowling alley floor, super smooth and you are able to go very fast .

If it weren't for such a cool car you might have had a different dad, eh?

The following are from the site of RGVOldCars.com. It's the site
of a bunch of Rio Grande valley area old-car enthusiasts, and the
majority of the photos are from Texas, all the way from the gulf
to north Texas. They have a ga-zillion vintage pix. Go check
'em out! :D If anybody sees anything that's been posted before,
PLEASE PM me & I'll remove it/them so we don't clutter the thread. THANKS!

This is a really cool photo, but it puzzles me. Too small to be
an arena (?). Maybe the central element of a public building, auto
    dealership or department store???

Thanks, RaceRon! GREAT New Yorker! :D Love a peak under that hood! You're right, I realize. You did show 'em before:p, BUT I love seeing the '58 finny monster again! I never tire of seeing the '57 and '58 Chrysler, DeSoto, Imperial, Dodge or Plymouth models, as I think they EPITOMIZE the '50s experience. ;) Also, because of rust-through issues, most of the ones I saw as a kid were already consigned to junkyards! :(

Ever see the movie mini-series, "Band of Brothers"? They did the impossible,
but it didn't look "easy." If not, please see it. You won't regret the time or
rental cost. Probably the best, most realistic movie I've seen about WWII
    since "Thin Red Line."

  16. The show is great. I read the book several years earlier - it is great too. Having read it first, it puts added perspective on the series.

If anyone ever gets in the area, Ft Campbell KY has a museum with a lot of 101st Airborne historical info and displays.

    Great movie.

Give the series 'The Pacific' a viewing too.

    You won't regret it either.

Major Dick Winters just died recently. He lived very close to here. He donated his library to the Hershey historical society a few years ago. They took pictures before it was moved, placed all the books in the exact order he had them. The Band of Brothers is playing on his TV in his library there. When I walked into the room the hair stood up on the back of my neck. The boot he was wearing when he was shot in the foot is there too. If you ever get to the Hershey fall car show the historical society is within walking distance.

Tinker Air Force Base is still active in Oklahoma City (Midwest City actually). It was the location of the first tornado warning ever given in the U. S. sometime in the late 40's. Where else but in Oklahoma.

Since we like planes and Memorial Day is coming up: In 1967, a C130 could not fly back to the lower 48 states from Okinawa without refueling. It was
common to stop at Elmendorf in Alaska for fuel and that was a 13 hour ride in the slings along the fuselage walls. About 7 hours out, the number 2 engine came apart in flames and the inboard extinguishers put the fire out. We turned about and headed back to Okinawa. About an hour later, a C130 Rescue came up alongside. I wasn't nervous until I asked the crew why. They laughed and said that it was there to mark the spot where we go down. I shut up and got back in my sling.

Not many remember he finished his career in Kansas City with the Royals.

And started his career with the Washington Senators before they moved to Minnesota.
