    Robert Johnson, the greatest. Ever.

Lord I'm standin' at the crossroad, babe, i believe I'm sinkin' down

Robert Johnson is the direct beginning of what we call Rock'n'Roll these days. It was his guitar rifts and his particular rhythm and cord progression that almost all rock oriented music is based in.

Go do some reading, this mans legasy is breathtaking.

Ol' Legba hisself' gone take my soul, at that ol' crossroad.
Now I'm gone' squeeze my lemon good, shake it on down.

  3. I'm not 100% sure but this looks like the John Morrell meat packing plant that's still in operation in Sioux Falls, SD.

It's the Addams Family. John Astin as Gomez. But Morticia doesn't look like Carolyn Jones.

  16. That must be a still from the Pilot..before Carolyn Jones joined the cast.

  17. PBY5a "Catalina" flying boat..converted to civilian use...w/ a bar even!...cool.

My father in law won the Navy Cross flying one of those out of Casablanca/Port Lyautey - N. Africa in 1943...convoy escort/anti-submarine patrol.
He spotted a U-Boat running on the surface..dove on it & dropped a "stick" of depth charges and damaged it...made another pass to strafe it and took heavy anti-aircraft fire..really got shot up bad.. the medal was won for bringing the disabled aircraft back to base despite shot away control cables, etc.

Boy have times changed. Look how modest Mickey's home is, and his wife doesn't look all that glamous and high maintance. There also doesn't appear to be a bunch of high dollar cars in the driveway either. Mickey could be living next door. Try to find that in today's sports superstars.

    Where's the bling?

  19. Pro. athletes of the '50's and '60's did not make the obscene salaries they make today.....

(Notice, however, he does have a new '56 Ranch Squire Wagon)

Re the Lancaster bomber, I am not an expert on WWII aircraft but after the war a number of these planes had their engines converted to turbo props and the plane was rechristened the Stapleton and was used for maritime duties well into the 60s. for your info Canada has 3 lancs one in flying condition based in Ontario, another is in Nanton Alberta, this one is slowly been restored and the engines are fired up on special occasions much to the delight of the public, The air space museum in Calgary, Alberta has the 3rd plane which is on static display

Trojan Horse and Pauljrestomod97 like this.
  22. Evidently there were at least six actresses that tried out for the Morticia part.

The woman in this picture appears to be Morticia #2. Havent found her name..... yet.

Like someone already mentioned, it has radial engines, so not a Lancaster. I think this may be a Handley Page Halifax.

Look at the forearms on MM! Man, no wonder he could hit that long ball!

Also, does anyone know who the folks are living the high life in the PBY? Looks like they might be just off Catalina in one of the shots....

I read that a lot of pro ball players in the 50's actually worked real jobs the rest of the year in order to make ends meet.
