What's the Holy Grail of rare parts?

Back in the early eighties a friend had real beater 64 ragtop with a top like this.It looked kind of odd;I never thought it could ever be collectable.

 

I would have to say a set of these would be on the top of my list!

 

I'll take a Curtis OX-5 V8 too!

My holy trail would be to find a 16 port head for my straight 8 Buick.

 

Ford aluminum heads are easily available up here in Canada. Along with aluminum intakes and '49 to '53 timing covers.
They're everywhere....

 

Amen same goes for vintage speed parts for straight 8 buicks and a title and vin tag for mine

Wait there's more, I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time to pick up lots of NOS parts, accessories and literature for the Olds. Here's my NOS swamp cooler. I have boxes full of NOS parts ready for assembly.

So can we get back to the original thread now..I find it most interesting...

 

Here's a couple for the nomination. First up is an Edmunds Olds flathead 6 2x2. Edmunds didn't even have a parts number for this. It was an * before the part number for the standard BO6-1 2x1. "*Note-Also available for 3 bolt V8 carburetors." Next is a Thickstun 2x1 for Chrysler flathead straight 8 (3 pictures). Extensive on line research has not shown the existence of the Thickstun other than this one. If you've seen one, or know someone who has one, please let me know. Jay! A special shout out to you if you've seen anything on this. It had to be made in the brief half year period before WW II when Thickstun became a division of Tattersfield's Electric & Carburetor Engineering Co., or in the half year period when the war ended to Tommy Thickstuns death in 1946.

I'll post a picture of the restored Edmunds in a couple of days. Both manifolds are shown in "as found" condition in these pictures.

Just curious....any idea what a complete
factory Cad 2X4 set-up would go for now?
Back in the early-70's, I bought a complete,
stock Cadillac dual-quad setup - cast iron
intake with 2-WCFB carbs and linkage
and the triangular-shaped "Batwing" air cleaner
assembly with the gold Cadillac "V" emblem
on the top and twin oil-bath air-filter pots
hanging off the sides, for $25 from a small
backwoods junk yard. Back then there
wasn't much demand for '50's vintage Caddy
stuff and I dragged it around from swap
meet to swap meet (Damn, it was heavy!)
for at a least a couple of years before finally
selling it for a 100 bucks to some guy who
had just swapped a 365 Caddy V8 into his
'55 Ford pick up. At the time, I was just
really glad)) to see it go! Wish I had it
now though.() I bet it'd be worth a lot
more than a 100 bucks! LOL!

Last thing I saw was a split dual corvette 6cyl "blue flame" exhaust manifold. The guy was askin' $1300.
It made me look more than once till he showed me it was a factory item.
Cool non-the-less.......

Funny. Everyone posts pictures of "the holy grail of parts" that seem to be in their possesion. If they are so rare why does everybody have them?

 

Model T V8 by J. Dale Gentry circa 1917 uses stock T crank & cam 225 cubes. 20 to 30 produced and no I don't have one.
