That tank is very very cool, Chris. Is there any way you can continue the body line onto it? I've never seen anything like this. Kudos to you, buddy!

Ive been thinking about that. If I did put a bead into the corner section then it would have to die out before it got to the actual gas tank. I think ill make a test piece and tape it up to see how that would look.

Love the gas tank, that's brilliant!

A nit though...the kingpin zerks are on the front side? For some reason that seems wrong to me.

Hmmm... I know this would add labor, but it'd freaking rule... what about continuing it through with an additional piece of aluminum welded on top to resemble the body line?

After typing it all out, I'm thinking, it'd be much easier to figure out a way to finish off the body line... still it'd be very trick. I really like that, Chris.

I like it, but I agree the body line needs to be continued around the top of the tank to make it look integrated.

looking good, the gas tank is brilliant!

My only critique is the seats, they look awkward sitting above the body line, even after you took 5" out of them

I very well could have put them on the wrong sides, I just threw things together when I was mocking it up. But here are some pictures of the 5' window brizio built that I saw at the la roadster show and both of his are on the front.

Here is a scrap piece that I put a bead in and tapered out before it got to the gas tank. What do you guys think?

Would it work rounding it up to the top? To me, it looks incomplete.

I think you need to get the owner to fork over a few more bucks to make the tank match the belt line. :D What are we talking about, an aluminum strip welded and blended into the tank? I know you're completely able, do you think it'd look better?

I do think it looks more finished off, however, it looks modified, you know? Whereas if the beltline went all the way it'd look factory.

I don't know, that's what I'm thinking. What do YOU think?

Looks great with the rounded bead - ties it in with the other step in the body line behind the door. Great work.

    My 2¢

You're moving the problem. The bead should go all the way across the back of the tank. You said it looked unfinished before you put the tank on...and I think part of that was there wasn't a bead on the back of the cab.

It ends up being the difference between amazing and stupendous. I hate to criticize such amazing work but hey...you asked! :D

An "X" across the back of the tank might look good, rather than the bead across the top. That would differentiate the tank from the body, but subtly.

  24. Sweet build... lots of good ideas I need to steal for my planned project - Thanks for posting this build thread!

    Beautiful build!

However, I don't really like the idea of turning the bead up.

Just to throw one more option out there you could turn the bead all the way down and leave a joint/reveal between the corner panel and the tank. That way the tank is still there and distiguishable, but still blends with the body. It's hidden from most people, but accented for those that know about it.

Just my 2 cents, over priced at that.

Chris, is a pretty level-headed guy. I don't think he would take this conversation as criticism. We've bounced ideas off each other in the past and he always seems to figure out the most suitable fitment.

I think that is better, too. Still, I'm thinking like the poster above with the continued belt line. However, the choice ultimately falls on the owner. I can't wait to see what it ends up being.

That looks good both ways, with the body line on the corners or with it rounded up to the top.

Here's a question. When it's all done will the top edge of the tank be visible like the corners are ?

If so then that same body line should be carried through across the top of the tank.

Why don't you just mock it up like you did the corners to see how it looks ?
I bet it would look good with that body line all the way around.

Hey, Chris, It's totally cool if you want to carry it all the way around.
