I used that same gas tank in my Dodge coupe. Nice work- can't wait to see it out this summer! I am optimistic.

The stance is perfect. It was worth the extra work to get it down low!

Looking great Nick! So, will you have to do wiring from scratch? Or is there a simple wiring harness you can purchase? Just curious...

Stance is nailed. Perfect... Love the idea of running the a-shell.

  7. Hey Malcolm,
How did you fill the upper apron piece, right behind the seat? I was thinking of breaking a piece of sheet metal to match the break where it curves. Also, are you going to put in a bulkhead behind the seat?

Me, too! Hope to see you at an event or two this summer!

Hell yeah... and again, Thanks to you, Andy for all the help on the chassis!

There are quite a few simple wiring harnesses out there that I can pick from. Just need to decide which one. A friend here in Omaha also offered to help order one from a company he's used a few times.

I used 3/4" square tubing at the top of the quarters and above the seat. Did quite a few pie cuts and welding/grinding to get it to fit. Then drilled 3/8" holes every couple of inches to spot weld the tubing to the sheet metal. Also welded a continuous bead where the tubing meets the sheet metal edge. Ground all the welds smooth after that. Tied that tubing down to the subrails with the vertical supports you see in the photos. All of this made a HUGE difference in stiffening the body.

I will be filling in that X-brace behind the seat with sheet metal... as a bulkhead, like you mentioned. Planning on step-rolling (instead of just bead-rolling) separate triangular panels and then two to fill in between the vertical tubing and quarter panels.

  9. Wow!!! That's awesome!!! Thanks again for the reply and info. on how you filled in that space.

WOW! Looks REALLY good with the hood on it TOO! I just noticed the position of the headlights relative to the grille. Looks fantastic! I like it!

  18. Looks good Nick, are you going to fill the gas tank to cowl seam? If not, are you going to make the hood side line up with the seam?

Thanks for all the feedback and PMs, guys!

I do plan on lining up the hood sides with the tank to cowl seam. Either I need to cut up these 30/31 sides or try a pair from a 28/29. Do you still have a 28/29 hood for sale?

Cool Sedan, Chris. Thanks for the response!

Last night I worked on making an inner door patch panel. Some dumbass cut out the old ones and the stock latches were butchered, too. Wednesday night I fit the new bear claw latch and striker.

I did a quick sketch at work as an idea/guide for the patch panel

I'd never used a bead roller before and picked this one up from my buddy, Andy (cal1954)

Went to another friend's garage to get a piece of 18 gauge sheet metal and trim it on his old stomp sheer. That old thing works great -- thanks, Jason! (jho)

Dug out my old drafting tools from college and layed out some lines

It's not perfect by any means, but a start...

I'm also going to continue the 'bead' around the tips of the X. Should look better that way.

  24. I haven't checked in for awhile...lookin great!

  25. I've followed many Roadster builds on the HAMB and I normally stray away from posting but it takes a special car before I'd post...

Well... I like every bit of this car and the way it's turning out... from the stock radiator shell to the windshield... to the stance... it's a well done car!

Keep up the good work and the updates!
