Homemade tools in your shop..

I use this a lot, and tonight while putting it away after it helped me unsieze the brakes on a 46 chevy 3/4 ton,, I thought you might like to see my homemade hammer. Check out the head on it,, and the two spares on either side..
I know someone knows what those are,,,,,,

 

They look like giant roller bearings.

 

Here is a tool I made the other day to straighten the subframe on the '62 Comet wagon. I used an old coil spring.

 

friend of mine made a similar hammer, but he used square tubing turned in the bias. Your's looks pretty cool.

 

there ball bushing pins from an accupress press brake.

There is a big post on home made / specialty tools if you do the search . You can get some really great tools by thinking how to make one yourself ! I have made a few special tools myself when I can't find one I need .

btw - those 'hammer heads' are diesel wrist pins..

 

i like the hammer. do you think you will actually wear the head out that you need two backups?

Here is a Polishing machine that I built 30 years ago to polish Stainless steel when I had my business (Classis Farbrication Inc).It cost $400 to
build but paid for itself several times over.

 

my belt grinder i built 3" by 48" belt grinder, 1HP 3400rpm motor, 3" by 5" yates boat trailer roller, i buy 6" belts and split them, it has a surface speed of about 4200 FPM, i have used this every day for over 8 years.

 

not home made but jury rigged, i needed to cut 30 pieces of 1/2"x5" flat bar, so i dug out the old power hack saw and jury rigged up a drive system, works like a charm

 

Thas awsome, we call those fixes"tem-permanent"

 

sence i posted i have burnt a belt almost in two and have added two more bar clamps..lol

another thing those wrist pins work great for is body dolly's or bending small patch panels over i have 5 or 10 differnt sizes even a couple large ones out of a D8 cat dozer

 

Didnt think about it to be honest, just had two more wrist pins,
call it embellishment,,
