Well I'm kind of new to the HAMB have been reading for a while. I managed to pick up a 1954 ford crestline 4 door, its a barn find that has been sitting since 1979. It has a 239 Y Block with an old fordomatic. I'm posting my build pics so far so please let me know what you think.

Thanks :) I'll be on the look out for those pictures. For some reason I don't see many people fixing up those old 52-54 Fords.

  15. Welcome aboard. Here's mine on the way home from the HAMB drags last year.

And here's an engine pic for inspiration.

Looks like a really nice and solid project. I have a soft spot for these, because my first car was a '54 Ranch Wagon with a 239Y. Get busy with it and maybe we will see it parked next to Cactus1 at the HAMB drags this year!

I initially just plan on getting it running and drive it around a bit, it also needs a drivers floor pan installed and both rockers, after that I am thinking satin black with air bags and wide whitewalls with dog dish hubcaps from a 54 truck but we'll see how it progresses. i am laid off from work for the next ten weeks so I should be able to get quite a bit of work done on it. Also is that intake an aluminum and is it a 239 block?

I don't know why they don't fix many of them up, they have beautiful lines and make great cruisers.

  23. I like the original color, what is it?

Back around '59', my best friend traded his 51 Merc coupe (black, nosed and decked with skirts and lowered in the back) for a 54 Crestline (he was up dating)...he proceeded to nose and deck it, rounded the front hood corners, shaved the rear door handles, replaced rear tailights with Olds units, lowered it in the back and added fender skirts...then repainted it "Robins Egg Blue"....it was a beautiful car..
