    Painter D,

Your ride is looking good! Nice job. How does it ride with the front shocks mounted like that? Any turning issues?

I had a '63 and a '65 both similar colors. I had my '65 painted a Lincoln Continental color like that in '79. I have a shot of it around here somewhere.

Maybe you can post a few more how-to shots for those of us who are looking into doing this job ourselves. It would be good to see the plates that the bags mount to on the front. Also some shots of the rear - did you just replace the springs?

Thanks for posting what you have done so far.

    Later,

    Mike

Thanks for the compliments. The car rides extremely well better than I expected it would have. As for the shocks being mounted where they are up front ,IMO it's a perfect location. They work good, fit good, and there's no interference with the the turning radius at all, (no rubbing). The bags are mounted to a simple "cup" mount for the upper part, and on the lower mounting end of things all I did was weld a 0.25" steel plate to the control arm and bolt the bag to it. It was fairly simple.

In the rear all I did was make upper and lower "cups" that bolt in to the same bolt holes that the factory coil springs bolted to. Again fairly simple. I'm sorry but I don't have any pics of the rear, during the middle of this project I unexpectedly had to change jobs and just getting it finished became priority number one.

I do remember I used 82-98 S-10 shocks for the front end, and I used 91-93 GMC Typhoon shocks for the rear.

Very nice looking stance. GM car have it made suspension wise. They make nearly everything bolt in.

I have a 72 RIV I eventually want to bag. Were you able to find a kit with the proper brackets or did you just customize them your self? What company or web site did you find if you were able to find a kit? Oh yeah the ride looks sweet.

I made all of my bag mounts, but the front upper shock mounts I bought from Suicide doors.
