My brother in-law brought his 68 chevelle down from Utah on his car trailer to show his son and last night in sun valley ca, on la tuna cyn someone stole it off the trailer. It is black with black interior and has Utah plates, when I find out the lic plate # I will post. Thanks. The car was just finished a couple of months ago. This is in the same general area that Ruby Deluxe and the 57 Chevy were stolen from
It sounds more and more like there is a "shop" in the area that is keeping costs down by acquiring vehicles or doner vehicles without paying the proper owners for them.
Heres an update. first it is a 1967 not a 68 like i thought. and it has a Utah vintage plate # B384R My brother inlaw had to return to Utah without his car. The police told him that there has been so many antique, classic and muscle cars stolen lately that the police are putting together a special tast force. He did have it insured so if the car is not found he is hoping the insurance co doesnt give him a hard time on the pay out. thanks to all that have kept an eye out as we all have at least one thing in common we love cars. thanks again
Wow. I don't know why I'm always so shocked when I read these posts-but it really sucks. Hope he gets it back asap.
tell him to start getting the word out EVERYWHERE online about it. AND get his paperwork in order. The insurance is going to want copies of everything if he didn't have it appraised.
Won't stop because our society deems it acceptable behavior. The thieves have already been caught before most likely....
Update: 67 chevelle still missing. Police told my brother in-law that 2 other muscle cars were stolen that same night in the same general area. Police told him that they believe the cars most likely went straight to a shipping container and are long gone.
I want to know how the fuck this happens? with the paper work that is supposedly necessary to ship a car, and DHS, and all the other security measures "supposedly" in place? for shipping containers and ships..And there is supposed to be a manifest for everything...everything on that ship Dont get me wrong, i agree its highly possible, but it sure implicates some cover up issues, and some security issues doesnt it? ..or it implicates the "turning of a blind eye" or "payola" it also implicates the possibilities of "other things" being able to get shipped with out knowledge of whats in the box..shit like this! http://theintelhub.com/2011/02/12/port-officer-says-nukes-have-been-found-in-or-near-san-diego/
Chop shop and if that many cars are being stolen in the same area maybe avoiding that area is a good idea. There are places here that I avoid parking my cars for just that same reason. No offense to the OP intended I know its a bad thing to have your stuff lifted, just a general observation.
Sounds like to me the cops don't want to do their job. Let one of us catch the thieves, and handle it our way. Then we will be the criminal. Kinda sucks this so-called Justice system we have. Just me ranting!
This don't sound so likely to me. I have shipped a lot of cars. You dont just pull up and stuff them in a container. I guess anything possible. Counterifiting thier own titles etc. Would not think a giant freight forwarding company would risk all their licenses etc. for some car deals.
Its going to get worse way before it gets better. The economy-Tweekers ect are making it happen and unless we can catch a few of them and make prime examples of them it's going to continue. Lojack comes to mind.
Agreed. A lot of people jump to the conclusion that anything stolen is immediately shipped off to some foreign land, but as you say, that just can't be that easy. I bought a car out of Ca. last year, and all the paperwork had to be in order before it could be containerised for shipping, and as it was going by shared container it was actually held up when the first 'other' vehicle (VW bus I think) was found to be lacking in correct documentation. It is also not easy to get stuff into the UK at least without proper documents. This isn't of any real consolation to the poor guy whose Chevelle has been ripped off, but hopefully means that it is still there somewhere.
WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH All OF THESE DOUCHE BAGS STEALING SHIT LATELEY? I HAD 4 RATCHETING TIE DOWNS STOLE FROM THE BACK OF MY PICKUP YESTERDAY, IN FRONT OF WALMART IN THE HANDICAP SPOT RIGHT IN THE FRONT OF THE STORE!! AND I HAD JUST BOUGHT THEM THE WEEK PRIOR!!!! UN FUCKIN BELIEVABLE! PEOPLE ARE PIGS NOWADAYS!
With all the Hot Rod/muscle car thefts lately, it's really tough for me to imagine that we have outlaws amongst us that are doing this, but its starting to look that way? Outlaw biker groups have dealt in stolen bikes/parts for years. Imagine, that anytime we're out at a show or cruise night enjoying our hobby, there's a possibility that someone is casing the event. They blend right in with the crowd and in fact could even make small talk with car owners to gain knowledge about their rides. I'm not trying to be an alarmist, but its really a creepy feeling that there's low lifes stealing special interest/Hot Rods for parts or to make a profit from other folks' pride and joy. Its like a child molester walking through the park and you don't have any means to know what he's up to.
Agree completely---but let's be fair about it. Say a 10 second headstart on a 30-06. Frontier justice is where it's at.
