Wow, that's really shit news. Sure hoping the thief is caught out quickly. I'm into early caddy stuff and I'll keep my eyes and ears ready but I sure hope the stuff doesn't get this far.
Pedro beat me to it, but I'll put the word around my side of Melbourne. It's a special type of dog that steals tools and vintage car / bike bits. As a copper mate of mine told me: "Never mind this 'criminal mastermind' crap. Thieves are as dumb as dogshit. They will always, always make a mistake." There's no way specialised Caddy stuff like that will go unnoticed on another car. And it's not like the scum can sell the Von Franco. He'll bring himself undone in a big way. Best thoughts mate, Matt
Should've probably not posted that the Von Franco was a one-off, that way when it turned up you'd know who it was. If "they" read this they'll now know to dump it.
I caught two punk ass kids in my backyard looking at my stuff a few days ago. Chased them over the fence. The cops got em'. They burglarized a home a block away. Sorry Kevin. There is no peaceful feeling after something like this.
I already called all my swapmeet buddies , thanks everyone for the support, I still have to call my friends with shops.
Fuck. Sledge - We'll keep an eye out for that Caddy stuff up here in the NW. We've got a few big swap meets coming up, and a couple of Cad speed collectors up this way too.
I spoke to him earlier and man was he bummed. These parts are hotter than hell so I dont know WTF the thieves plan on doing with them. These people went in with clear intentions on what they wanted to steal. They probobly have been to his garage. Man I hope I catch 'em and take thier teeth for a necklace. Straight scumbags with no honor.
Sorry to hear this...If there are any vintage clothing stores in the area you might see if someone has tried selling the clothes to them.
These people were ballsy enough to break in and unbolt speed equipment? NO WAY. ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS JUST TOOK YOUR SHIT MAN..... woman's clothing? come on, that narrows it down to a man/wife team. Who lives in Riverside that is in to old speed equipment like that and doesnt like him? Honestly, what common thief even wants this stuff or even knows what it is. This one seems like an easy one to solve.
I tend to agree this wasn't a random thing, someone knew what they wanted and took that, then added some other stuff on to make it look like a more general burglary. Maybe the clothes were just what was packed and on top of the stack for the next load to be moved? Then again, there's probably money wrapped up in those things too. The problem is some of that caddy stuff is so rare it's virtually impossible to re-sell while it's hot, at least anytime soon, the guy would literally have to bury it in his backyard for 5 or 10 years... or use it himself on something. So it's going to be tough to find to catch this prick.
I'd venture to say that it was someone who had been in his shop/house at one time or an other or had close contact and info from someone who had. And probably someone who had pretty solid info on their schedule. It almost sounds like the stuff was stolen to order. The sad thing is that sometimes you let someone you trust in your house and shop and days or weeks later he/she sucks down a few brews or drinks and starts bragging about what they saw there in public and someone takes notes.
sucks, tough times bring out the worst in people- well keep our eyes open, the stuffs bound to surface when the scumbag tries to unload it for quick cash. Sorry to the Sledges...good people!
This really sucks!!!! Kevin and his wife are great people....Getting tired of hearing about thieves! People change when times are tough. Take more risks... sad, just sad!
Friends have the best shot at you and your stuff,or a tweaker friend of a friend who likes to brag ,feel bad for Him,I know what it is to be the victim, sooo frustrating
Huge swapmeet next weekend here in the midwest. I'll keep my eyes open! What a horrible shitty thing to have happen! Fuck!
Guys, ask your chicks who deals in vintage women clothing. kevan dosen't have a computer here to post the pictures of his stuff, if you are in Riverside , give him a ring, may be there is something you can do to help.
