A friend is cleaning out a rural property. I got some picks of what is out there before it's gone. Cool and sad. Carmak Riverside, Iowa
Not a stash, other than a few select parts it all looks like crusher fodder. Should have sold the stuf 20 years ago.
That 63 Olds has a 394 in it. Maybe even the "ultra high compression" option. And also one of those badass 9.3 inch rear ends. Not exactly crusher fodder.
As deep as it is in the mud I bet there is a hole in the bottom of the rear end housing! I am a scrounge and will save all I can. But, there is a time that folks gotta understand that some of this stuff needs to die to save other cars. Junk is junk, like you and I said, there are a few pieces worth cutting off or looking into.
I think I could do something with the Apache. But you know me I love a a beat up truck. Never the less the stuff looks to be a little on the rough side. Any chance someone could snag the dizzy from that olds for me? Perhaps the west coasters from the truck?
I grew up in Iowa City. My Dad and I used to go drive the countryside looking for a cool projects (specifically a Model A). Seems like when you're not looking, stuff jumps right out... Some really cool tin, right there! I could really use a shop truck!
It the aluminum trim around the headlights "eyebrows" on that 60 wagone are decent they are worth something. It is difficulkt to find a pair that are dented up bad or aren't rotted on the back side where the clips hold them on.
I know Iowa cars. And those cars sitting frame-on-the-ground like that for decades will not have any floor left in them. I'd be surprised if the finned drums on the Buick haven't corroded apart as well.
I know very well what Iowa rust is. Here are some pictures of a 70 Olds Vista cruiser I loaded from the same location last night. It possibly the rustiest car I have ever gotten onto car trailer. Car is loaded to the gills with options (and mud). Carmak
Don't need another project but that Apache is doable my friends. You could probably just do a quick together and finish it up next winter.
How bad is the tailgate on the wagon? I'm assuming it's rotted out but the picture it doesn't look too bad...I need one of those if the bottom is not rusted out. That glass in the wagon is worth some money too.
The bottom ot the tail gate is rotted. The trick with these cars is that if I want anything off of them I would need to buy them and haul them home. If I could get a couple somewhat firm offers for specific parts to help ensure I don't loose my shirt on buying one I would get one and part it out. Carmak
