Yep! That car is BAD ASS! Rudy is one of my all time heros! That guy gets it! He has the vision when it comes to hot rods. That is the car I have been lusting over for years. Then when I got a 5 window......... I think you know the rest of the story!
I just read this whole thing. I thought the car WAS okay before.....kinda girl next door type. Good looking, but not breath taking. Then you chopped it.....and well....it's like when you are driving along, you take a swig of your drink and you spy a beautiful woman running along the side of the road. Then you spew mountain dew all over your dash and windshield and nearly crash because you can't see....or something like that
just went through the whole thread...the first pics where absolutely killer!! Man I loved the unchopped coupe - my style... the chop is killer!! this guy is an artist, very well done! In my opinion (and that is really just me!!) it is a little bit too radical, BUT it looks very nice. That is gonna be one of the cars you won't forget! have fun with it and drive the shit out of it!!
I like the way the chop looks. But then,i'm not the one who will be driving it,haha! Visibility has to be kinda tough. I don't care....I still like it!!!
You've got the "don't mess with me" chop, now you need the supporting goodies to back it up. It all worked as a package before the chop, but post-chop, it doesn't quite have "it". Bring it down a bit, lose the wires, etc. Then you'll have "it". See the attached inspiration. Just an opinion from an impartial 3rd party that doesn't have the time or money invested in the project.
Oh yea, I talked to Bob Pierson once @ Bonneville and they thought they were crazy for bringing the Pierson coupe to the salt and they "tech-ed" it a couple of times from what Bob told me......so to the others that say you F-d up a perfect coupe.......heck with them........some days you lead and all others just follow.
Tim the car is awesome! Hope to see you guys in Vegas. I'll be the guy in the mini van. Ha Ha Gary Baron
Cant believe you guys would screw up a car that was found in a wash anywa.,What the Hell are you thinking???
There's certain cars that make an awesome presence and this is one of them. As I was reading this thread I kept going back to the Green Grenade that Kris built (then saw that he mentions it) and how awesome of a car that Model A is. Great to see that talent going into yet another awesome build.
I've got a build thread going on the Utah HAMB: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=16759
one more vote for liked it better before. it all fit together to me... the spokes, flathead.. stock top. just a good old-timey car.
Hi You don't happen to have any more pics of the 6" chop with 3/4" added to the B-pillar? I love that look, spot on. Have you centered the roof on the B-pillar so that you have to lay both the A-pillars and the rear part of the roof? Thanks, Magnus
Update! Got my spacer almost ready to cast! Let me tell you, this has been a big project! I think I will have more hours in this dam pattern then I have In the hole dam car! Kris keeps telling me "if it was easy, everyone would do it" ha ha! So I think we will do the lower intake manifold next..........year! Anyway check out what I have so far. This is the making of the core. So now the pattern gets the "core prints" added. Core all done. Now I can make the core box. I will post pics of that part for sure. Did some clean up sanding on the pattern. Thinking it's ready for name on the side " ELMER" !
While I was "f in" around with my spacer Kris got something done on the car! Driver side A pillar done (just needs to be planished and leaded). Right side all cut up! Kris' pattern so both sides match. The drip rail was rusted out and Kris made a new patch panel for it with that bad ass bead roller that he won from last years tech week. We ran out of argon gas for the tig welder (it only happens on Sunday!) so I'll be heading down to AirGas tomorrow on my lunch. Getting started with the rear window. That's all I have for tonight!
I prefered this version but thats me, you guys are doing a killer job and only have yourself to please. I know it will look righteous when done like all your stuff in the past. Keep the updates coming..
remember what you have said....if its not ready days before we are supposed to leave it does not go! ha ha
Worked on the pattern tonight. We are getting close to casting this pos! Last coat of paint to get them nice and smooth. Putting together the core box. What I forgot to take a picture of is I made two small 3/8" blocks to hold the pattern off the bottom of the core box. Then we added some filler blocks so we didn't have to use as much plastic. Using a two part plastic to make the core mold mixed half and half. Pore it in and let it set up! The pattern wanted to float so we got something heavy to hold it down. It only took about 20 min to set up, then Kris pulled the pattern to see what our mold was going to look like. Now the other half, with a filler block. And there you have it! One heated intake riser core mold! This plastic sets up hard! Just a little more work to this mold tomorrow night and it will be ready to make the core that will be used to cast this bad boy!
