As far as I know, Balkin was the only AWB Falcon sedan ever built. All the "factory help" guys & other independents used hardtops. If there were others I'd be interested in the info.

Not exactly an FX, more of a gasser.

Yep, that was taken right after the car was wrecked. I find most of the pictures I post through Google searches.

    Falconred:

I believe, but I am not positive, it is my Falcon. The headers exiting the engine compartment through the front wheel well looks like the headers I fabricated for the 427 SHOC engine. In addition, it has a US/2 number on the window, (Ultra Stock/2) which was a class designation in the now defunct NASCAR Drag Race Division. I raced in that association from 1965 to 1970, and do not remember ever seeing another '65 Falcon racing in NASCAR at that time.

Although The Falcon was originally built as a NHRA legal AFX car with A-Arm front suspension, in 1966 I sold the car to the Catron Brothers, who converted the Falcon to a Match Race Car, gutting the interior, fender aprons and installing a straight axle in the front. I agreed to continue driving the car for them during the '66 season, and won several NASCAR events in the car.

The Falcon was set up for either the Hi-riser or the SHOC engine. The Hi-Riser engine had 180 degree headers, and the SHOC had conventional each-bank separate headers. Dave Lyall <O:p

Thanks Dave, I thought it might have been but wasn't sure. I have always thought the '64-'65 Falcons made some great looking and running drag cars. I grew up about 35 miles north of Ellijay GA where the Strip Teaser was located and watched it run at the old Double H drag strip. I didn't get to travel much except for an occasional trip to Atlanta Speed Shop Dragway, Dallas, Paradise and Yellow River. I sure enjoyed that time period in drag racing and those involved then. I have had three Falcons and three Comets through the years with one of each now, a '65 Falcon street car and a '65 Comet drag car, both needing finishing.

Darn, I must have led a sheltered life, there are so many more Falcons than I thought. Anyone notice that he had just droped the drive shaft?

Roy as far as i can remember I had a super ford article from 1989 that said that only 2 a/fx 64 falcons were built by dst... but do not know how many 1965's. If I still have the magazine I will try and scan it for you.
