Here goes Miguel again with his mile long posts, I don't do it to talk aboat myself, I do it more with the hope that it will inspire people to talk aboat their personal feelings aboat our hobby. For years before I joined the H.A.M.B., it had a reputation as being a site where guys would donate their time, to give you information to help build your car. Alot of my personal friends were on the H.A.M.B. , but I never joined because I didn't own a computer and had no computer skills. The day I finaly viewed the H.A.M.B. , I found out that it wasen't just an electronic Vern Tardel Book, Guys posted pictures of the people who built these cars and where they drove them, also guys would post their shows and events. This was important to me because I love the social aspect of our hobby , as much as the cars. What good is it to own an old car, if you can't drive it and meet people who share your same interest, which brings me to my next topic.

To answer your question sir , NO, WE ARE NOT DOING THIS FOR MONEY,WE ARE DOING THIS SO WE CAN DRIVE OUR CARS AND MEET PEOPLE WHO SHARE OUR SAME INTEREST.
That is the reason for the T.C.C.A., In any of our fifty states, driving and owning a vehicle is a PRIVILAGE and not a right , and you have to stay within the laws to keep that privilage, thats the way the law is written. There are smog laws in most of the fifty states, in california, we are exempt from meeting the smog requirerments for our state. The word exempt means we are excused from meeting those requirments , we are EXCUSED and not PROTECTED from meeting those requirments and that PRIVILAGE can be taken away at any time the state legislators so desire, so we have to keep them on our side.
The second reason for the T.C.C.A. is so we can MEET PEOPLE WHO SHARE OUR SAME INTEREST. This is done generally in public places, and we must abide public laws, so citys will continue to give us the privillage to congregate in public places. This too has been in jepordy, A few years back, in southern California , a few clubs thought it was cool to stage fights and riots at our favorite shows, some shows were canceled and others had to adopt so many rules and security personel that they lost the charm they onced held.It took years to build up the scene and a good reputation for having fun shows that people can go to , a bad reputation can be achieved in minutes, so that why it is important that clubs bond and respect each other so that together we can protect the privilage to congregate in public places.

  12. Miguel,

The Lonely Knights of Colorado could get behind this idea. Sounds like a great idea, and something the boys would support. Will talk to the guys and send you our specifics !

    Johnnie.

  13. The Helldivers are glad to be a a part of this association and we are in complete agreement as to keeping things clean and friendly. There is no reason to bring down more regulations on ourselves or anyone else because of small stupid things that you can control.

The San Diego scene wellcomes you, in San Diego some of the clubs get together at the foster freez off Warrering rd. just east of the eight freeway on the third thursday of the month, it is called the Anti-La Mesa cruize and is hosted by San Diego Joe and the mauraders c.c.
It is called the Anti-La Mesa cruize , because of the following; The city of La Mesa hosted one of the first cruize nights that was established in San Diego county, since it was inacted, we were constantly harrased by officer Sperry and his fellow police officers, the city only wants shinny painted cars, and street rods, no hot rods , customs or drag cars are allowed. No one in the san Diego scene has caused a fight, or any other reason to exclude us from their cruizes, Officer Sperry wore a drill sargent hat, and had the attitude of Vic Morrow in the califoria kid movie. He literly called 5 squad cars and told us he did'nt want our kind, and had us escorted out of town, anytime I have driven a hot rod thrue there I have gotten tickets for no fenders , load exhaust, my custom buddies have gotten tickets for air bags, vehical too low and have had their vehicles searched. oficer Sperry is now retired, but police dept and the city still enforses this policy with our kind. We never knew why officer sperry had that attitude with us, until wererod told me the story, it turns out that acording to town gosip, some greaser kid left his daughter a door prize, and he got stuck with a little greaser grandson.

If that was russ conway that used to be in my club , you will love this story even more, russ had his copper shoe box parked at the la mesa show, this was a beutiful car, some drunk lady backs into his rear bumper and teaked his quater panel , the cops tried to blame russ for not parking correctly, the crowd did'nt like that and the cop had to write it up as it happen, they did nothing to the drunk lady , russ did get five grand from the lady's insurance company, and his brother in law fixed the car for five hundred. he later found out the lady was an off duty cop in their presinc.

I have nothing agaist police officers, and some are close friends of mine, it's just that one town, but I did get my vengence, Over my life time , I have never had a moving violation, but dozens of fix it tickets, cause my car are old and are always falling apart. I am driving through La Mesa with my little s-10 p.u. and i was trying to deliver a model "T" coupe body to a friend of mine. I ate some bad mexican food and blew a fart and got a prize, I heading to Denny's so I can use the restroom, and while I am driving , I am trying not to sit on the stuff, woulden't you know , La Mesa p.d. pulls me over, the cop walks up and tells me he pulled me over for driving eradectley, so I explain to him that i am trying to make it to a rest room. I guess he did'nt believe me, and ask me to step out of the vehical. he then procedes to search me , luckely I had a long jacket on , so you coulden't see the run off, he starts to search my front pockets and asks me whats in them, I answered " just my keys sir " he then starts going to my back pockets and I am thinking to my self "please don't go there " my luck he gets to my back pocket and asked "whats this"! I answered politley " just a turd sir , just a turd." He told me to leave and it was free and clear through that town after that.I should try that at the airport one of these days.

Well I guess the T.C.C.A. is going international,The River City Coupe and Roadster Club ( Aussi Hambers ) have stepped up to the plate, and have volentiered to start a T.C.C.A. chapter in Australia, god knows they need it down there, they have been fighting strick vehicle requirments for their hot rods and customs for years, we are also working on a chapter for New Zealand, Canada, and Europe.
Our first T.C.C.A. get together will be held at the L.A. roadster Show .
For years , a bunch of the clubs have gotten swapp spaces together at the L.A. roadster show swappmeet and have done an anual pot luck bar-b-que. it usally starts around 3-p.m. on saterday in the swapp area near the trees, bring your own beer, and we usually chip in for carne asada, or bring what ever you have and will throw it on the bar-b-bee for you.
