Hi, can people please show me a few pictures of specific wheel/tyre combos on shoeboxes? 15's vs 16's and different tyre profiles (white walls preferably ive just bought my 51, dont even know what wheels its coming on but if its stock im assuming 15's? Thanks
my '51 with Caddy Caps-find 205/75/15 on 15" X 6" is a good size. also had a set of metal flake blue15" X 6" with stainless trim rings and chrome lug nuts/center covers. plus, have a set of true spoke copies 15" X 6" that will run with thin whitewalls when need a different look
These are 215/75-15s on 15 x 6 steelies, '55 Buick hubcaps with Galaxie centers: Same size wheels & tires with '50 hubcaps and beauty rings: Your car came standard with 6.70-15s.
I would like to buy this on payments..... one day I will have a hardtop. that car is 200% beautiful great job!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the pics guys but does anyone have g78's on theirs and im interested in Lesters, any super wide white pics?
50fraud,really nice shoebox wondering if you have any rubbing with the 215's im thinking of running them on my 50
The answer is no, but with several qualifiers: 1. The wheel arches are raised 2" in the front 2. The car has a Nova clip, with a wider front track than a stock shoebox. For a time it was too low (stepped frame where the clip attaches), and I raised the front about 3/4". 3. The wheels were made for the car, and I used a lesser offset on the fronts to pull the tires in a little bit. 4. In an extereme situation -- full lock turning into a driveway, with the frame twisting, it will rub the wheel opening a little. Not objectionable to me. So, while I don't have a problem, I can't promise that your experience will be the same. The tires are 75 series; I think 70s might be a problem.
thanks for the informative responce i was planning to go with the 75 series but after reading your responce i [prolly drop down to 205/75's thanks again
Cool shoe boxes folks, lottsa nice looks. 50fraud's hardtop has been one of my fave cars ever since I first eyeballed it. Love both the full caps and the 50 dog dishes and trim rings, thinking the full discs are a little dressed up look and the caps and rings, lean and mean. Nice stuff! Thanx ~sololobo~
On my 49 Business Coupe, 15" 6.70 x 15 Firestone wide whites. I have about four different sets of hubcaps I run. I like to change it up. 1956 Plymouth caps, 1956 Dodge caps. Olds Feista's and Olds Flippers. The black & white picture is not mine, cool custom done cap. I would like to replicate at some point. The picture came from Jivin Jer 's build thread
I don't think so. Every conversion table I've seen shows 205/75/15 as the size that corresponds to 6.70. I have used both on my old Fords, and the 205s look fine as a substitute for 6.70s.
