  1. Thanks for sharing, that thing is sweet. How rare is it?
I don't believe I've ever seen an Art Deco Suburban.

Nice Jason, thats a good story and truck. Mine will be same style, simple and functional. My '46 will be a family fixture too, I traded my first car for it and I'll be damned if I ever sell it just to buy something else.

Just looked at the numbers. It has the "clam shell" gate and looks like it's prob a 1/2 ton, Judging by the springs.
The year was not definite when I bought it, the title had been replaced.
How would I know what year it is, any quirks?

Here's mine with a home made flat bed before I got a new metal bed. The truly sad thing is I miss that flat bed some thing terrible. All the cash on the new bed was not well spent for me. Oh well , at least I have the pictures and the memory's. Here's one with bed.

The data plate on the passenger cowl should have some alpha characters,
and the pad on the engine by the distributor should have some nbrs on it also
    those should help

Did you buy all new parts for the bed?
I can see where a flatbed might be more practical depending on what you need it for... What is that frame for that is sitting on it in the pic?

    Body and frame:
The body is a 1940 chevy panel . I shaved off about 8 inches off the bottom and its chaneled 7 . The frame i made its z'd 6 in the front and 15 in the rear total wheel base of 130 inchs..

    Drive tran:
Its a 427 bbc tall deck (10.2 deck) stroked to a 472 .. 540 lift cam 310 duration steel crank four bolt main . Weind tunnel ram with dual 750 afb's .. The trans is a 400 turbo with a 2000 stall with a hurst shifter and all backed up with a 4 linked ford 9in 31 spline with 3.50 gears and a pro posi center section

    suspension and steering:
Rear is rollin 2600lbs air bags and the front is a 40ish ford axle set up suicide with disc brakes . Booster and master are frame mounted . Steering box is a 1965 ford mustang it lays flat under the frame in front of the z . Steeroing wheel is a 28-29 model a and the column is anouther creation by me ..

    Grille:
Well what can i say its a massey harris tractor grille cut down 5 inches and it hides the 65 mustang 4 row radiator .

 How's the little munchkin doing? Hope she is feeling better, and you can go get your trucks soon.
We are all curious how the trucks look when you get them home.

Thanks fellas. I appreciate the kind words - it's been kind of a struggle to get even this far with it. Just concentrating on enjoying it for a bit now before I do anything else.

LT, Awesome truck. I love the stance.

I was wondering what you did to accomplish this on the front axle? (i.e., Does it still have solid axle?)

Oh yeah, none of that 'IFS' mumbo-jumbo modern stuff here (it's a drop tube from CPP, supposed to fit a later model, so I had to play around with the steering arms and drag link a little. You can read more in my build thread - follow the link in my sig). Glad you like it!

found what i think is a vin plate on one of the trucks. all i can read on it are the indented numbers. one truck i guess is a 46 cause it has 46 indented by itself but the other number is the vin i am guessing. 8CK05 is all i can see. its at the bottom of the plate. any guesses. all i have is my cellphone camera and it doesnt show up clear. if you look at the second pic, you can see the plate just above fender. i will add the pic to my profile later today. any help i can get to locate another vin on that one or the other?
