Yep I am an FNG and just learning all about this stuff,

I know there is already an archive on brakes and I have read most of them. But I just need a straight answer. I have 46-48 backing plates(already machined to fit the drums), and 46-48 hubs( already to fit the drums also) and 45 finned buick drums, I also have early ford spindles purchased from So Cal. Am I able to make these into self energizing brakes, if so or if not what do I need to make this happen??

Get you a set of Wilson Welding Linclon style backing plates. That is the most straight forward answer.

  3. 48-53 f250 backing plates. bendix self energizing. ( I think I am right with the years) Pete.

  4. Use stock 46-48 brake parts they were already self energizing by then.

You're golden friend just put 'em together and use 'em. Looks like you have made good choices so far.

DD COOPMAN is correct, Porknbeaner is wrong! I also like the F 250 idea. It's work, but then that is half the fun. Mix and match--the Ford way.
