Am toying with the idea of putting fake woodie panels on my '62 Buick Special Wagon. Are there any kits out there?
Di Noc is the original stuff. 3-M still makes it: http://www.customautotrim.com/vinyl/wood_grain_vinyl.htm
There is a guy on the garage journal that was advertising a computer generated dip that could do wood graphics. He did lots of camo graphics for guns and carbon fiber look for the import guys.
Are you going to body work it or are you just looking to cover the lower half that is dark, if so I would get a graphics wrap, the prep will be less.
Mac tac is rubbish for vehicle graphics. I have had a couple of failures using there stuff and know of many other locally and over seas as well. I do vehicle wraps for a living.
oh shit, that's funny! i did that for a dude on a vista cruiser wagon years ago, i thought he was kidding, but when he pulled it out of the bag i almost shit myself laughing. he had cash, so i said fuck it, i put it on, and you know what, it did'nt look half bad! don't know how long it lasted because i've never seen the car again. thank god.
Not at all. I've got the matching 62 Olds F-85 wagon. Personally, I think there's way too much styling going on with the sculpted sides to need or want faux wood. Modern vinyl wraps are a good choice if you have your heart set on it, however.
Funny you should mention that, because in my young and stupid high school days, I did exactly that to my Vista Cruiser. That's when I learned the difference between contact paper and factory woodgrain vinyl.
