  3. How did you miss it? Lots of really nice looking iron in ther that's a fact.

Now how's about some olds powered rods, just complete or nearly complete cars and or trucks. I could use a boost today.

Here's a local guy's 303 Olds powered tub. It's owned by Gary Buehler of Pultneyville, NY, east of Rochester. These pics are from the 2008 Syracuse Nationals where the tub made the Top 10. Just as I was asking him for some details, he sent out a copy from the latest Hemmings featuring the car.

[IMG]The '32 sedan parked next to Gary's Speed Queen is his other car, the Silver Streak (since sold to one lucky new owner)

Engine Specs are in the Hemmings article below. Not mentioned in the story is the aphrodisiac effect of the Olds' exhaust note. Those are straight pipes.

The Speed Queen badge is from an old washing machine. Gary's is one of 3 Speed Queens in the Rochester area, the others being a chopped/channelled Essex pickup and a belly-tank lakester that ran over 200.

Gary's Speed Queen almost met its end a couple seasons ago when it was creamed from behind by a speeding Honda car. Lee Osborne, who did the bodywork originally, brought it back to perfection. This is a Speed Queen, not a trailer queen. He puts miles on it.

    Here's the Hemmings Article:

My project isn't too pretty yet. It's a '54 Olds 88 Holiday. I was delighted when I discovered it had a 394 under the hood!

Also pretty happy about the condition of the dash...the car is getting a new floor this month. Unfortunately, it sat in a field up here in the NW, so it needs plenty of help with rust on the bottom of the body.

By the way, can anyone tell me anything about that steering wheel? I don't recall seeing a lot of them with 4 holes in them (always see them with 3 holes).

I told the owner, (I assumed it was) it was nice that he used a real Lincoln instead of putting Linc covers on a SBC, and he said, "Look again." That was a true 'holy shit' moment. Did you do the valve cover work, too? He explained how it was done, and it sure wasn't easy. Congrats on having the best engine in the whole show.

Any chance you can give us some details on what you used to adapt the 5sp?

I used the Bendstens adapter kit which got the job done after I re-engineered the whole thing. I'm still using that set up for now but I have never really been happy with it. So now I collected most of the stuff to redo the job with vintage speed parts and as soon as I get a couple more odds and ends together I will probably take it out and replace it. As for the transmission its really nice to have that overdrive, car cruises at 80 no problem.

I was thinking of using that very same adapter but a few guys have told be to stay away from it. I have never used one and know nothing about it. I would like to get the input from others that have put the t5 behind and olds and hear how they have done it. I have the original 324 bell housing and tranny and the only reason I don't want to use it is because there is no overdrive. Gas is already taking a big leap in price here and it is going to be the highest ever this summer so I want to drop my rpm's on the highway. Once you get around to changing it over please post the pics and info.
