Hotrod dash in tug boat !?

What is this from?
i was at work and it cought my eye. it looks like it could be from a car and was modified for the bow thruster gauge cluster. anyone know?

There was one in a big fork truck I used to run.It was a hot rod with a Y-block and duals.

 

S-W for sure...mounted upside down, though. Seen in many smaller Chris-Craft boats.

Hows about a tug boat dash in a Hot Rod!

 

Geez, how old is that boat? Doesn't look that old from the outside. Looks about 1950's on inside. They might want to do a little maintenance on that red lens and keep the wattage down some on the bulb. Hope that isn't the "Oh shit!" light. Looks like it has had a fair amount of use.

o i will i have to drill some holes in a peace of plywood and replace that. now i have somthing to do during the audit tomorrow.

Looks like there might be AC gages in the SW panel. Is the bow thruster engine a Detroit Diesel? Detroit [General Motors] used SW and AC gages and panels with their engine packages. Cool!

 

I was just thinking the same thing!

 

I'm going to hit all of the local marina's and junkyard's this summer. I found a Stewart-Warner gauge set last year from a boat and got good coin for it. Same goes for 318 poly 4 barrel intakes. Found 2 marine units that brought excellent coinage!

We did a repower last year...

I found these in an old landing craft.

I think there's enough paint coating them that the chrome should be ok!

We'll see,
for now they just sit.

these were on the engines.

unfortunately couldn't keep them.


There are so many of these out there,
it made me wonder about the old days.
There's lotsa stories about airplane pilots and how they were into the hotrodding thing,
but you don't really hear about the navy guys as much.

yea we have those exact ones on a small tug ou ours. they are hooked up to the mane engines detroit 149's.

and for the navy guys. this could be the navy guy car club from the 40s

 

That's a ocean going tug, Used for stern towing over LONG distance and cross the Atlantic or Pacific. I would guess 5000HP give or take.
Most people think of harbor tugs which are considerably different. Todd

My buddy Rob and I used to drive around the hoods in Detroit and look for abandoned boats...we scored many a S-W panel w/gauges, steering wheels, etc....

My dad's 52 Shepherd project boat has one of those sw ensign panels in it with most of the original gauges... He never paid any attention to it until I mentioned I wanted it for wall art...
