    Hey fellas,
Just wondering how many sixers are still around? I have a fiftytwo chev Styleline 2 door with a 216 that won't die, but I am replacing her with a 78 292 and would love to see any one that still rocks a six and what I can do. Got an idea from a great guy from longveiw with the same car(Deviants Car Club?) who's running an s10 Trans and rear. If your out there man love to here from you! We spoke after the rod run in Ocean Park along with your pal in the choped 49 chev Matt I beleive?? from $IK fl@mes @nd $tripe$ Much respect love yer rides!! ShiftyTwo PanDraggers Customs

Yes!!! Long live the straight Chevy 6! Happy to see this post.

My Dad is rolling in a '62 with the old 235 still running great. The '63 runs well with a 230, and the '64 with a 292 truck engine actually! Sounds really cool with the dual exhaust and headers.

Purposely looking out for a good Chevy that must have the old stovebolt. Got my eye on a '54, if that car is what the ad claims to be I'll be running the six and looking into duals and glass packs.

The 6s have a sound that's all their own. Thanks for the post!

That's really ironic, I was considering the idea of dropping in a 292 into an early '50s Chevy, and I was just talking to my Dad about this actually. We figure the hood is tall enough and it would allow for enough room. So much fabrication was required to make the 292 work in the '64 without cutting a hole in the hood. It evolved in fabricating a really crude air cleaner made of components including '58 Chevy air cleaner lid and a chrome pot and a few other pieces. It's really crude, but it works for now...

  6. I'm surprised by this. The 292 in my '63 dropped in with just a fabricated passenger side motor mount. Are you still running the single-barrel Rochester?

I've got a 235 I'm planning on putting in my model T, that is if I can ever afford the overhaul kit for it and get a replacement trans and a frame to bolt it into.. etc. etc. I do have a running 300 ford six that's going to power my OT 49 Chevy 3100, maybe that sort of counts. :D

I'll keep an Inline in mine. '54 235 with 89,000 original miles. No smoke and no leaks. Still rockin' a 6v too.

I'm still running a 215 six cylinder in my 53 Ford. I've owned it for 37 years and always been able to go any place I wanted to go. Even drove it around the track at Indy. I don't intend to ever go V-8.

Here is mine- Ford 226 in a 50 sedan. I am running a lightened flywheel, T5 5 speed trans, header, weber carb, cam reground by Schneider, higher compression (milled the head) cleaned up the ports on the intake, adapted a chrysler distributor to get some Mechanical advance (a big shortfall of this motor!), later ford flex fan etc......I also am starting in on a Ford 254 which is the bigger bore version of this motor and was only available in F6 trucks. Plans are to either build a similar but "hotter" version with some other goodies or possibly even supercharging it with a Paxton....
PS: I am always on the prowl for speed goodies for these!

Take a look at my photo albums in my profile. I have only ran the six bangers. I love the 235 but would love to get my hands on a 261 or a big GMC straight six to throw in my 53 and 40. Those are the two that I have now. The 49 and 51 are long gone.
